Due to the ongoing Iran conflict forcing major Middle Eastern aviation hubs in Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, and others to close, global air travel has been severely disrupted. Numerous flights have been canceled, resulting in many people being unable to travel to their destinations as planned.
Here are the latest flight cancellations as of Monday, April 20th, listed in alphabetical order by the initial of the airline name:
AEGEAN AIRLINES
Greece’s largest airline has canceled flights to Riyadh and Amman until June 27th, to Tel Aviv and Beirut until June 26th, to Erbil and Baghdad until July 2nd, and to Dubai until June 29th.
AIRBALTIC
Latvia’s airBaltic has announced flight cancellations to Tel Aviv until May 31st and to Dubai until October 24th.
AIR CANADA
Air Canada has canceled flights to Tel Aviv and Dubai until September 7th.
AIR EUROPA
This Spanish airline has canceled flights to Tel Aviv until May 31st.
AIR FRANCE-KLM
Air France has suspended flights to Tel Aviv, Beirut, Dubai, and Riyadh until May 3rd.
CATHAY PACIFIC
This Hong Kong-based airline has suspended flights to Dubai and Riyadh until June 30th, along with suspending cargo flights to Dubai and Riyadh until May 31st. To meet the increased demand in the European market, the company will increase passenger flights to London, Paris, and Zurich starting in April. The airline plans to resume all regular flights after June.
DELTA
Delta Airlines has canceled flights from New York to Tel Aviv and delayed the resumption of the Atlanta to Tel Aviv route to September 5th. The planned Boston to Tel Aviv route, initially set for late October, will be postponed, with a specific commencement date to be advised later.
EL AL ISRAEL AIRLINES
El Al Israel Airlines states that flights for passengers planning to depart Israel before April 18th have been canceled, including return flights. As of April 13th, the number of canceled destinations has increased to about 30, and this figure is expected to expand gradually for the rest of the month.
EMIRATES
This Dubai-based airline has reduced flight frequencies but continues to operate flights to over 100 destinations.
ETIHAD AIRWAYS
The Abu Dhabi-based airline currently operates commercial flights between Abu Dhabi and approximately 80 destinations.
FINNAIR
Finnair has canceled all flights to Doha until July 2nd and continues to avoid Iraqi, Iranian, Syrian, and Israeli airspace. The airline anticipates resuming flights to Dubai in October.
IAG
British Airways, under the IAG group, plans to reduce flights to the Middle East permanently after resuming operations, permanently canceling Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as a destination. Additionally, they will increase flights to India and Africa. Starting from July 1st, the group plans to reduce flights to Dubai, Doha, and Tel Aviv to one flight per day and decrease flights to Riyadh from two to one per day from mid-May until the end of the summer on October 24th. Flights to Dubai will resume on October 16th. Iberia Express, the Spanish low-cost airline under IAG, has canceled flights to Tel Aviv until May 31st.
JAPAN AIRLINES
Japan Airlines has suspended regular flights from Tokyo to Doha until May 10th and from Doha to Tokyo until May 11th. Additionally, the airline will introduce new flights from Tokyo to London starting on April 25th.
LOT
LOT Polish Airlines has suspended flights to Tel Aviv until May 31st. Moreover, they have also canceled flights to Riyadh until June 30th and suspended flights to Beirut between March 31st and May 30th. The airline plans to resume winter flights to Dubai in October.
LUFTHANSA GROUP
Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, and Edelweiss Air have suspended flights to Dubai and Tel Aviv until May 31st and suspended flights to Abu Dhabi, Amman, Beirut, Dammam, Riyadh, Erbil, Muscat, and Tehran until October 24th. The cargo operations of Lufthansa are similarly affected, with the suspension of Tel Aviv flights extended until April 30th.
Eurowings, a low-cost airline under Lufthansa Group, plans to suspend flights to Tel Aviv, Beirut, and Erbil until April 30th and flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman until October 24th.
MALAYSIA AIRLINES
Malaysia Airlines has suspended flights to Doha until June 14th.
NORWEGIAN AIR
This low-cost airline has postponed the opening date for flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut until June 15th.
Pegasus Airlines
Turkish Pegasus Airlines has canceled all flights to Iran, Iraq, Amman, Beirut, Kuwait, Bahrain, Doha, Dammam, Riyadh, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah until May 1st.
ROYAL AIR MAROC
Royal Air Maroc states that flights to Doha are canceled until June 30th and to Dubai until May 31st.
QANTAS
To meet the increasing demand for European routes, Qantas will increase flights to Rome and Paris. Flights to Paris will be increased from three round trips per week to five, and the Perth to Singapore route will see an increase from one daily flight to ten per week. The updated flight schedule will gradually take effect from mid-April and continue until late July.
QATAR AIRWAYS
Qatar Airways announced it will expand its international flight network, offering services to over 150 destinations starting from June 16th.
SINGAPORE AIRLINES
Singapore Airlines has extended the suspension of flights from Singapore to Dubai until May 31st and increased flights from late March to October 24th on the Singapore to London Gatwick and Singapore to Melbourne routes to meet higher demand.
TURKISH AIRLINES
Turkish Airlines and the joint venture SunExpress with Lufthansa have canceled flights to Dubai until April 30th.
WIZZ AIR
This Hungarian low-cost airline will delay the resumption of flights to Israel until May 4th and suspend flights from mainland Europe to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman until mid-September, with all flights to Medina indefinitely suspended.
