Zhang Ziyi Unaffected by Ex-Husband’s New Relationship, Happily Poses in Cannes

On May 22nd, Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi arrived at Nice Airport in France with her latest film, kicking off her journey to the Cannes International Film Festival. With fresh flowers attached to her backpack, Zhang Ziyi appeared at the airport in a casual outfit, happily signing autographs and taking photos with foreign fans who welcomed her, seemingly unaffected by her ex-husband, singer Wang Feng’s recent announcement of a new relationship.

Zhang Ziyi stars in the film “Soy Sauce Lane,” which will have its premiere in the out-of-competition screening section of the Cannes Film Festival on May 24th. The premiere will also be attended by director Chen Kaige, and lead actors including Lei Jiayin, Wang Chuanjun, Yang Mi, Da Peng, Li Xian, and Cisha, among others. Last month, Hong Kong director Chen Kaige released a new poster for “Soy Sauce Lane,” announcing the film’s selection in the out-of-competition section of the 77th Cannes International Film Festival. The poster features Zhang Ziyi’s character, “Zhan Zhoushi,” making her first appearance, marking the official announcement of the cast.

On May 20th, singer Wang Feng officially announced his relationship with internet celebrity “Forest North” (Li Qiao) in a lengthy post, claiming that he only met her two months after his divorce from Zhang Ziyi, denying rumors of infidelity during his marriage. Wang Feng’s open declaration of love sparked discussions and speculation. Some observant netizens pointed out the facial similarity between Li Qiao and Zhang Ziyi, suggesting they share a resemblance.

As a result, Zhang Ziyi found herself a hot topic of discussion, but she has chosen not to respond. It appears that Zhang Ziyi, who has been divorced for seven months, has moved on from the shadows, immersing herself in filming and enthusiastically participating in the Cannes Film Festival. Looking back to 2019, Zhang Ziyi attended the Cannes Film Festival with her second child with Wang Feng and was the only Asian actor invited to participate in the Master Class event.

In photos released on Weibo, Zhang Ziyi was seen at the airport dressed in white, wearing sunglasses and a ponytail, looking fresh, lovely, and in good shape. Many foreign fans held up posters of Zhang Ziyi’s films such as “The Grandmaster,” “House of Flying Daggers,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” and “Memoirs of a Geisha” for her to sign. Zhang Ziyi not only greeted fans with a smile throughout but also happily signed autographs and took photos with them.

Reports indicate that the crew of “Soy Sauce Lane” will arrive at the Cannes Film Festival in stages, with Chen Kaige and Zhang Ziyi arriving early. They may hold a press conference on the 23rd to promote the film and host the global premiere on the evening of the 24th.

In March, Zhang Ziyi attended the wrap party of “Soy Sauce Lane” with her children. During a speech, she choked up and revealed that when director Chen Kaige first told her about the film, her second child with singer Wang Feng had not yet been born. Despite many changes along the way, the director always saw her as the only choice for the lead role in the new film, giving her a “chance to be reborn,” as she expressed her gratitude to Chen Kaige.
