Taiwanese community successfully prepares for the “Double Tenth National Day” celebration, to be held this Saturday.

On September 25, the 2025 Double Tenth National Day Celebration Committee for the Republic of China held its final meeting in New York, where they announced the details of this year’s celebration activities. The event is scheduled to take place this coming Saturday, October 4th, at P.S. 20 in Queens, New York, and is expected to be attended by nearly a thousand Taiwanese expatriates residing in the greater New York area.

The celebration program includes an opening ceremony featuring a drum corps, performances by the Third Prince and lion dancers, followed by the highlight of the event – the raising of the flag of the Republic of China, with representatives from different generations witnessing this symbolic moment.

Following that, there will be a unique “Get to Know the Organisations” activity this year. The committee will invite nine Taiwanese associations to introduce themselves, their mission, and their activities. These organizations include the New York Hakka Association, the Chinese Association for Academic Exchanges, the Chinese-American Commerce and Industry Association, Laiyin Choir, Tzu Chi Foundation, Chung Hwa University Alumni Association, Fokuangshan New York Association, and the New York Area Overseas Community Emergency Relief Association, among others. After giving an overview of their organizations, each group will also showcase their own cultural performances.

Committee Chairman Wang Jinzhi stated that this “Get to Know the Organisations” segment is intended to “showcase the spirit of Taiwan and the strength of overseas Taiwanese communities.”

“This is the most special part of our National Day celebration this year,” Chairman Wang remarked. Due to time constraints, not all 70+ Taiwanese social organizations in the community can introduce themselves. “Therefore, we will prioritize the organizations that have been actively participating in the planning meetings to introduce themselves.”

Subsequently, the event will move into the “Taiwanese Food Expo” section. Here, attendees can sample classic Taiwanese delicacies such as bubble tea, meatballs, grass cakes, taro cakes, traditional oily rice, stir-fried rice noodles, purple sweet potato cakes, glutinous rice cakes, chewy savory rice dumplings, sesame oil chicken, and Hakka desserts, among others.

“We can say that we have prepared 95% of the content already, with the remaining 5% being dependent on the weather on the day itself. If the weather is clear and sunny on October 4th, then we would consider the event 100% successful,” Chairman Wang expressed at the final planning meeting on September 25. “We hope that Taiwanese compatriots will join us for Saturday’s event, allowing us to celebrate the 114th anniversary of the Republic of China’s Double Tenth National Day together through food, culture, and unity!”
