Shanghai human rights activist Song Jiahong is one of the victims of the black prisons of the Chinese Communist Party. Recently, he has released a list titled “Shanghai Black Prison List,” which reveals the dire human rights situation in the bustling international metropolis of Shanghai.
In the “Shanghai Black Prison List,” Song Jiahong states, “In order to achieve a ‘zero petition’ performance, the Shanghai government violates relevant provisions of the ‘Regulations on Letters and Visits,’ turning various hotels, restaurants, inns, and rural guesthouses in the suburbs into ‘black prisons.’ These are used to detain petitioners who have traveled to Beijing to seek justice, employing individuals to restrict their personal freedom. They even confiscate their mobile phones to prevent them from contacting their families, leading to a significant regression in the level of civilization in Chinese society.”
The “Shanghai Black Prison List (Part X)” includes 21 privately established detention places by the Shanghai government for petitioners. Currently, the Shanghai Black Prison List has grown to a total of 166 establishments, each with detailed addresses, regions, and information on the victims’ duration of imprisonment and responsible units, providing real, reliable, and timely information.
Below is the list of black prisons in various districts of Shanghai:
Chongming District:
1. Chongming District, Shanghai, Shuxin Town, Qianwei Village, No. 520, “Nongjiale (Farmhouse).” Petitioner: Sun Hongqin, female, 71 years old. Detained for 5 days for petitioning against illegal urban housing demolition and judicial injustice. Responsible unit: Jing’an District Government and Zhijiang West Road Subdistrict Office.
2. Chongming District, Shanghai, Chenjia Town, Chenguang Village, No. 766, “Leqing Minsu (Hostel).” Petitioner: Wang Shumei, female, 57 years old. Detained for 68 days for petitioning against illegal demolition of homesteads. Responsible unit: Zhangjiang Town Government, Pudong New Area.
