Yunnan 3-year-old girl calmly walks for medical treatment with a knife in her head.

Recently, a video titled “3-year-old girl in Yunnan stays calm with a knife stuck in her head while seeking medical treatment” has sparked attention on the internet.

According to reports from mainland Chinese media, on August 15th at 11 pm, a resident named Hu in the Dongchuan district of Kunming was changing the bedsheets at home when a fruit knife accidentally flung off the bed and hit his daughter, Liu, who was playing nearby, on the head. Holding her daughter’s hand, Hu walked to the Dongchuan District People’s Hospital for medical treatment, and throughout the journey, the little girl remained calm without crying or making a fuss.

Currently, the knife has been removed, and there is no life-threatening danger. Liu is receiving follow-up treatment at the hospital but still needs to be monitored for risks such as delayed onset intracranial infection.

On August 17th, mainland Chinese journalists contacted the Dongchuan District People’s Hospital, and emergency department staff confirmed that the young girl admitted to the hospital on August 15 is currently in the postoperative recovery stage, stating, “She is not in any danger, and her condition is good.”

Regarding the fact that the little girl calmly accompanied her mother to the hospital for treatment, the staff confirmed, “They did not call emergency services (120). It is said that her mother tried to pull out the knife but couldn’t, so they came to the hospital.”

The skull is hard, and the blade penetrated several centimeters into the head bone, leaving the staff feeling incredulous, “Yes, I heard that the knife went in all at once.”

On August 17th, a journalist consulted a doctor, who stated, “It is possible for a sharp blade to penetrate the skull. As long as it doesn’t go too deep, generally there shouldn’t be a big problem. Because children’s skulls are relatively soft, it’s easier for something to pierce the bone. It’s also unexpected how calm the girl was.” If the girl’s mother had blindly tried to forcefully pull out the knife at that time, the girl would have been in great danger.

The video of the girl’s calm behavior while seeking medical treatment has stirred up discussions on the internet.

Netizens commented, “It’s terrifying to watch; the child is so calm”,”The child is so resilient”,”Is the child not in pain at all? She seems emotionally stable”,”This child is really obedient, not crying or fussing, some kids crying could easily lead to secondary injuries”,”Both the parents and the child seem quite composed; it’s me who got scared”,”The only correct thing the parents did was not to pull out the knife.”

There are also comments from netizens, “It’s a bit chilling to watch… Perhaps the parents were afraid to hold her and cause the knife to stab deeper”,”Walking on her own might be more stable; carrying her could be bumpy and potentially lead to the knife shifting, causing bigger harm.”
