On May 10, 2026, Iranian military officials have vowed to be fully prepared to protect their uranium storage nuclear facilities as President Trump of the United States declared that America will eventually obtain it. The US Space Force is monitoring the buried uranium enrichment sites.
During an interview with “Full Measure” host Sharyl Attkisson on Sunday, Trump discussed the deeply buried enriched uranium in Iran. “We will get it eventually,” the President said. “We have been monitoring it. I established a force called the ‘Space Force’, and they are monitoring there. If someone goes in, they can tell you the person’s name, address, and ID number. We have been monitoring closely, and if someone gets close to that place, we will know, and we will blow them up.”
One of the main sticking points in the US-Iran negotiations is the disposal of Iran’s high-enriched uranium stockpile. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has stated that Iran possesses over 970 pounds (about 400 kilograms) of enriched uranium with a purity of 60%, just a step away from weapons-grade enrichment.
It is reported that this enriched uranium is buried under a severely damaged nuclear facility in Iran. This nuclear facility was destroyed by US B-2 bombers in the “Operation Midnight Hammer” last June. US Secretary of Defense Hagessis stated on April 8th at the Pentagon press conference, “Currently, this uranium is buried underground, and we are closely monitoring it.”
“We are very aware of what they (Iran) have, and they know it too. They may voluntarily give it to us as the President said, and we will take it, remove it, and transport it away,” said Hagessis. “Or, we may have to take other actions, like we did in the ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’, we keep that option open.”
Iranian military spokesman Akrami Nia said in an interview with Iran’s state media IRNA on Saturday evening that the troops are fully prepared to protect the uranium storage nuclear facilities. Nia mentioned that Iran believes the US may attempt to take away the uranium through infiltration or helicopter airdrop methods but did not provide further details.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated during an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Sunday that Iran’s high-enriched uranium must be removed, and Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities must be dismantled. He noted that the war against Iran by the US and Israel has achieved “significant accomplishments” but is not yet over.
Netanyahu emphasized the need to enter the uranium storage sites and remove the materials. Of course, reaching an agreement is the “best way” to remove Iran’s high-enriched uranium. He did not disclose what would happen if the US and Iran failed to reach an agreement on the nuclear issue.
“I will not provide a timeline for this (removing enriched uranium), but I must say, it is an extremely important mission,” the Israeli Prime Minister said.
