An American woman in South Carolina claimed that she dreamt of her mother, so she used her mother’s phone number to pick lottery numbers and ended up winning $13,000.
According to a report from the Associated Press on February 6, the woman residing in Kingstree told the South Carolina Education Lottery that she dreamt of her mother, and upon waking up, decided to purchase “Pick 4” lottery tickets based on the numbers on her phone.
She went to a convenience store on North Williamsburg County Highway in Kingstree and bought 5 tickets of the same numbers for the “Pick 4” lottery.
The lottery company stated that each “Pick 4” ticket pays out $2,600, with odds of winning at 1 in 417. The woman won 5 tickets, totaling $13,000 in winnings.
“I was too excited, so I left work early,” she said. She also mentioned that she plans to use the prize money for a vacation.
Incidents like buying lottery tickets based on dreams and subsequently winning have also occurred in Maryland. A woman in the state won $50,000 by purchasing a “Pick 5” lottery ticket, claiming she dreamt of the winning numbers.
The woman in Prince George’s County told the Maryland Lottery that she had a dream in December 2024 with the numbers 9-9-0-0-0, which stuck with her upon waking up. She bought a “Pick 5” ticket with those numbers at a convenience store. In the drawing on December 20, she won $50,000.
Her husband said, “My wife showed it to me, but it didn’t feel quite real. However, when the moment of truth came, I hoped she would seize the opportunity. Thank goodness, we did.”
As for how they plan to spend the winnings, he said, “She can have whatever she wants. However, we’ve already prepared extra Christmas gifts for our grandchildren.”
In addition, in Washington D.C. last year, a man dreamt shortly before a lottery draw that he had won a million-dollar prize and ended up actually winning $1 million in real life. This can truly be called a “dream come true.”
