Anita Yuen Reveals Health Issue Found During Check-Up, Has Undergone Surgery

Hong Kong artist Miriam Yeung, who embodies the titles of “Queen of Songs,” “Queen of Movies,” and “Queen of TV”, is celebrating her 30th anniversary in the entertainment industry this year. She had been preparing for four concerts to be held at the Hong Kong Coliseum in November when, unexpectedly on September 7, she revealed on Instagram that during a recent check-up weeks ago, she discovered some health issues. She expressed concern as routine check-ups turned into something that required medical intervention. After undergoing surgery, she is currently recovering.

In her message, Yeung mentioned that she had been working non-stop for 12 days before finally completing her tasks, which prompted her to share the news of her surgery a few weeks prior. She humorously referred to regular health check-ups as “factory inspections,” but this time, it turned into a need for “maintenance,” causing her significant worry. Fortunately, the issue was minor, and she would still be able to perform on stage after the surgery.

From a set of photos shared by Yeung, one shows her in the hospital with an IV drip in her arm. The performance she mentioned is likely her appearance at the end of August at the Hong Kong Coliseum as a guest performer at the concert of Lin Jiaqian, where she sang songs like “Yu Chun Kiu” and “Goodbye 2nd Street.” Judging from videos shared by fans from that concert, Yeung appeared in good overall condition, showing little sign of having just undergone surgery a few days prior.

At 51 years old, Yeung, after a seven-year hiatus, is set to return to the Hong Kong Coliseum to hold the “Miriam Yeung Live MY LIVE 2025” concert from November 29 to December 2, spanning four consecutive nights. Coinciding with her 30th anniversary in the entertainment industry, she revealed that she is slowly recovering, with her main focus now being to “rest well and regain her strength,” promising her fans a postponed meeting in the future.

When fans inquired about the nature of the surgery, Yeung seemed reluctant to have them worry, simply responding, “There’s no need to be so long-winded about everything, it’s all fine once the issue is resolved.” Fans offered words of comfort and expressed concerns for her health, with comments like, “No rush for vinyl records, no rush for new songs, no need to call for additional shows. Let’s all take care of ourselves, stay healthy, and meet at the Coliseum!”

In the comments section of Yeung’s social media accounts, numerous fans urged her not to push herself too hard, emphasizing that “nothing is more important than your health.”
