Influencer from England Builds Fully Functional 2-Meter-Tall iPhone, Sets World Record

In an exclusive report by Epoch Times on September 9, 2024, a tech influencer from the UK, along with his team, has created a massive 2-meter-tall iPhone that not only resembles the real device in appearance but also comes with full functionality, making it a truly usable oversized smartphone. This groundbreaking creation has secured a place in the Guinness World Records as the “largest replica iPhone in the world”.

According to the Guinness World Records website on September 6, the man behind this feat, Arun Maini (also known as Mrwhosetheboss), with the assistance of DIY expert Matthew Perks and others, constructed this largest iPhone replica in the world, modeled after the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This 2-meter-tall iPhone features all the functions one would expect from a regular smartphone, allowing easy scrolling, sending messages and emails, and operating all the applications (apps) found on a standard mobile phone. Additionally, it also includes a fully functioning camera, flash, and charging port.

Maini and his team took the giant iPhone out onto the streets to capture photos with passersby, showcasing their innovative creation to the public.

Maini expressed his pride in his team and Perks for accomplishing something unprecedented, stating, “During my upbringing, I would spend hours in the library reading the latest Guinness World Records books, so receiving this certification is absolutely surreal for me.”

Maini started uploading videos on YouTube in 2011 and has amassed over 19.4 million subscribers to date. The motivation behind creating this oversized iPhone was to celebrate his subscriber count surpassing Apple’s current count of 19.3 million subscribers.

Perks, known for crafting homemade gadgets, often creates oversized or miniature versions of commercial gaming consoles. With over 4.6 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, Perks shared a video showcasing his involvement in creating this massive iPhone.

Speaking of iPhones, many are eagerly anticipating the release of the iPhone 16, the first AI-powered smartphone by Apple. Fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting this new model, with some predicting it could spark a massive wave of upgrades.

However, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman believes that a supercycle of upgrades is unlikely this year due to various factors such as weak overall economy, lackluster smartphone market in mainland China, and global consumers tightening their spending habits.

A major hurdle could also be the technology itself. The new iPhone model is expected to bear a striking resemblance to its predecessor from last year. While there will be minor upgrades and new features, a complete redesign is necessary to entice consumers to make a purchase. With no significant changes anticipated this year, a large-scale upgrade wave may have to wait until the release of the iPhone 17 next year.
