Arizona Shooting Incident Results in 9 Injuries

A mass shooting incident occurred in Tucson, Arizona, USA, in the early hours of Sunday, July 19th, resulting in nine injuries. The suspect was shot by the police and rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

According to reports by CBS, Frank Magos, a public information officer from the Tucson Police Department, stated during a press conference on Sunday that the incident occurred around 2 am local time in downtown Tucson. Police officers patrolling the area heard gunshots and immediately moved towards the sound, locating the suspect.

The suspect is an adult male. Magos mentioned that the police had repeatedly instructed the suspect to surrender, but ultimately, one officer shot the suspect. The suspect was then taken to the hospital in critical condition.

All nine victims of the shooting received emergency medical treatment on-site before being transported to hospitals. Many of the injured are in critical condition, as per Magos. The identities of the victims were not disclosed, but it was noted that all shot individuals were adults.

While the authorities have the suspect’s identity, it is not being released to the public at this time. The specific circumstances of the shooting and the motive behind the gunman’s actions remain unclear as investigations are ongoing.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office will lead the investigation into the shooting incident, as stated by the Tucson police. Internal administrative investigations will be carried out regarding the officer who shot the suspect. All police officers involved in the incident were equipped with body cameras.
