On February 7, an explosion occurred in the production workshop of Jia Peng Bio-Technology Co., Ltd. (“Jia Peng Company”) in Shanyin County, Shaoyang City, Shanxi Province, resulting in the tragic deaths of 8 individuals.
According to reports from Xinjing News, the incident took place in a remote valley more than 40 kilometers away from Shanyin County town, near the Shijia Tun Village in Yujing Town. Nearby residents described feeling a slight tremor and hearing a loud bang during the explosion, initially mistaking it for an earthquake. Upon investigating further, they witnessed flames and white smoke billowing into the sky in the distance.
Reports from Caixin Online indicated that the accident caused nearby factory buildings to collapse and some vehicles were partially charred.
Initially, authorities stated that all 5 trapped individuals had been “found,” showing no signs of life. However, additional casualties were subsequently discovered, raising the death toll to 8.
According to public records, the implicated company was established on June 25, 2025, and has been in operation for just over 7 months. With a registered capital of 5 million yuan, it is entirely owned by natural person Zhang Jiapeng. The business scope includes research and development of bio-feed, sales of coal and products, sales of construction materials, manufacturing of coatings (excluding hazardous chemicals), and sales of coatings (excluding hazardous chemicals).
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and the legal representative of the company has been taken into custody, with a local accident investigation team set up.

At 17:46 on February 2, a beam collapse accident occurred during the construction of the Yuegang Bridge in Xiangshui County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, resulting in 5 deaths.
Around 3 pm on February 2, a fire broke out at the Fanghua Yiyang Nursing Home in Jianhua District, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, causing the deaths of 5 individuals.
