Oil Film Found on Cameras of Chang’an New Energy Vehicles, Owners File Collective Complaints

Recently, the mainland new energy vehicle “Changan Qiyuan A06” has been embroiled in the “oil film gate” controversy. Many car owners have complained that the area of the intelligent driving camera on the inside of the windshield of the vehicle has developed an oil film, causing blurry images, intensified glare at night, and even affecting the driving assistance function.

According to a report from Sina Finance’s “Hotspot Views” on June 5, the issue of oil film on the camera of Changan Qiyuan A06 continues to escalate, with over 300 members in related car owner communication groups. The problem is mainly concentrated in the high-end models equipped with laser radar, where the area of the intelligent driving camera on the inside of the windshield has an irremovable oil film, leading to blurry images, intensified glare at night, and abnormal driving assistance functions. Some car owners have reported incidents of emergency braking being triggered unintentionally while driving.

Information from the third-party auto complaint platform “Car Quality Network” shows that the related problems are mainly concentrated in two high-end models of Changan Qiyuan A06: the 630 Laser Ultra version and 630 Laser Ultra Plus. Chinese media reports indicate that these two models are additionally equipped with a laser radar provided by Hesai Technology, supporting advanced features such as high-speed and city road OTA intelligent driving assistance.

On May 21, the “Daily Economic News” reported that many Changan Qiyuan A06 car owners have experienced oil film in the camera area shortly after taking delivery of their vehicles. One car owner from Henan province stated that the camera produced seriously blurry images at night, leading to the vehicle being unable to identify lane markers after activating the driving assistance multiple times; the vehicle also displayed prompts such as “sensor obstruction” and “camera obstruction” during normal driving, followed by triggering emergency braking when there were no obstacles ahead.

Regarding the oil film issue, many car owners have expressed concerns that the solution provided by the authorized service centers to dismantle and wipe the camera area may not completely address the underlying problem. The relevant person in charge at Changan Qiyuan stated that they have initiated proactive handling measures, inviting owners of vehicles with fault codes detected in the system to the service centers for free repairs.

However, several car owners who have experienced the oil film issue stated to Chinese media that they did not receive proactive notifications but instead visited the service centers for repairs on their own initiative, leading to dissatisfaction with the handling of the situation.

According to reports from Chinese media outlets such as “Beijing Youth Daily,” the responsible party at Changan Qiyuan acknowledged that a small number of vehicles had oil film issues causing blurry images and claimed to have identified the batches affected, actively contacting the owners. However, there was no direct response from Changan Qiyuan regarding whether the oil film problem affects driving safety.

Before the “oil film gate” issue with the A06 emerged, the Changan Qiyuan A07 was involved in a traffic accident that resulted in the death of three individuals. In the early hours of October 2, 2025, a Changan Qiyuan A07 collided head-on with a semi-trailer parked in the fast lane after approximately 40 seconds of activating intelligent driving assistance, resulting in the instant death of a family of three inside the vehicle. Following the accident, the smart driving assistance capabilities of Changan Qiyuan received attention from the public.

Chinese media reports indicate that the Changan Qiyuan A06 is the first model of the brand’s “big single product strategy” and the first mid-to-large-sized sedan built on the SDA platform. After its launch in November 2025, orders for the vehicle exceeded 30,000 units in a short period. However, shortly after the launch, collective complaints from car owners emerged, involving issues related to the intelligent driving camera’s oil film, blurry imaging, glare at night, and abnormal driving assistance functions.

Reports further state that as of the first four months of 2026, the cumulative sales volume of Changan Qiyuan A06 reached 18,100 units, averaging less than 4,600 units per month.
