Taiwan’s Deputy Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Li Yen-hui, recently visited the San Francisco Bay Area. On May 16th, she attended the “Silicon Valley Taiwan Women’s Cross-Industry Leadership Summit” held by the World Taiwanese North California Chapter to exchange insights with female elites from various fields. The event was also attended by Wu Chih-hsiang, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco, State Senator Dave Cortese, and Zhuang Ya-shu, Director of the South Bay Overseas Chinese Education Center.
The event attracted numerous female professionals from the Bay Area and representatives from the overseas Taiwanese community. It featured five outstanding Taiwanese female entrepreneurs from different generations and fields in Silicon Valley, including Chanie Chang, founder of Alexander’s Steak House, Alice Kuo, a senior executive in a solar energy company and president of the True Heart for Taiwan Association, Peggy Hsieh, a rising star in youth entrepreneurship and founder of OMG Event Design Company, Sandra Su, President of the Life Education Association under the World Taiwanese Foundation, and Servina Liu, President of the TAITA Silicon Valley Taiwan-American Industry and Technology Association. They discussed how women can leverage their leadership and influence in various industries amidst the rapid development of artificial intelligence, aiming to promote Taiwan and foster international connections.
In her address, Li Yen-hui acknowledged the enthusiasm and proactive spirit of the World Taiwanese Association members she has encountered during her domestic and overseas visits. She praised the North California Chapter for organizing the “Women’s Cross-Industry Leadership Summit” which aligns with the current trends, especially as AI has become a hot topic in Taiwan and globally. She highlighted that Taiwan women in Silicon Valley are at the forefront of global trends.
Li expressed her delight in listening to the career stories and experiences shared by the five outstanding female leaders. She wished the World Taiwanese Association sisters success, happiness, and wisdom, whether in Northern California, Taiwan, or around the world. She emphasized that it is the era of “female power”, believing that when excellent women come together, they can create greater strength, change the world, the nation, and the next generation.
The President of the World Taiwanese North California Chapter, Luo Chien-ru, expressed gratitude to the Overseas Community Affairs Council and various sectors in the Bay Area for their support of the event. She stated that the chapter has long been dedicated to promoting women’s professional growth and international exchanges, hoping that through this summit, women from different industries can learn from each other, establish cross-industry collaboration networks, and collectively face the new challenges of the AI era.
During the event, panelists shared their career transformations and cross-industry experiences in the era of AI, sparking lively interactions among attendees. Participants mentioned that through this summit, they not only gained professional inspiration but also further appreciated the resilience and vitality of Taiwanese women in the global technology and diverse industries.
Throughout the event, Director Wu Chih-hsiang of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco and State Senator Dave Cortese also attended to extend their greetings and engage in friendly exchanges with attendees, adding highlights to the summit’s cross-industry exchanges.
