On February 2nd, the Organization Department of Xingan County Committee in Ji’an City, Jiangxi Province issued a pre-appointment announcement for an official, mentioning that Yang, the current Deputy Director of the County Administrative Approval Bureau, is set to be promoted to a higher administrative position within the county’s direct units. However, after the announcement was made, the media discovered significant discrepancies in Yang’s personal information compared to the government’s official website.
According to a report by Hua Shang Bao Da Feng News, the pre-appointment announcement showed that Yang was born in July 1982 and was non-partisan. However, on the official website of Xingan County Government under the Administrative Approval Bureau information page, it stated that Yang was born in February 1978, is a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and included Yang’s office contact number.
The report mentioned that around 10:00 am on February 4th, a call was made to the office phone number for verification. The person who answered claimed to be a staff member of the Administrative Approval Bureau office and said they would inform Yang to call back.
Around 10:40 am on the same day, upon checking the official website of Xingan County Government again, it was found that Yang’s personal information had been updated, changing the birth date to July 1982 and removing the “CCP member” related information.
In response to the information change, another attempt was made to contact the Administrative Approval Bureau of Xingan County. The staff mentioned that Yang was in a meeting and was not aware of the changes made to the official website information.
A staff member from Xingan County Big Data Center, responsible for managing the county government’s website, stated that they received instructions from the Administrative Approval Bureau to modify Yang’s personal information.
The staff from the Organization Department of Xingan County mentioned that the discrepancy in information was due to negligence in data entry by the information disclosure staff and that accountability procedures have been initiated.
A user named “T8mQK1” commented below the related news article: “Similar news has been seen before, where officials change their age to stay in their positions for more years, then change it back when they are no longer in office – retiring normally. When caught, they blame it on errors made by data entry staff.”
