Recently, in Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia, a parent posted online saying that their daughter collapsed and died during a running exercise at Linhe No. 4 Middle School, and raising questions about the inadequate rescue efforts by the school teachers. According to online rumors, the incident occurred on May 12th, when Guo Jiajia, a second-year junior high school student, collapsed and died during the exercise. Allegedly, the medical staff at the school did not know how to use a defibrillator, and the school authorities attempted to suppress the information.
Reported by “Lychee News” on May 19th, a journalist contacted the education bureau of Linhe District on behalf of a parent of a student from the same school. The staff replied, “The student initially ran about 150 meters, then she walked for a bit, and towards the end, she ran along with the team to the finish line, totaling less than 300 meters.” The staff mentioned that after the student collapsed, the teacher called emergency services and performed CPR. Currently, the public security department is involved and awaiting investigation results.
Recently, a netizen under the username “Little Clumsy Dog” posted, “Please help spread the word, my daughter collapsed and died in the Linhe No. 4 Middle School during mandatory exercise, with no one providing assistance.”
Another netizen commented, “This was a classmate of mine, hoping to bring more attention to the matter. Please help spread the word! Guo Jiajia from Linhe District No. 4 Middle School collapsed and died during mandatory exercise, without anyone providing assistance, and the teachers in the medical room couldn’t operate the defibrillator.” The netizen not only reposted the aforementioned posts but also included multiple screenshots, including one showing an ambulance on the scene.
Chat screenshots revealed that after the girl fell unconscious, no one immediately administered aid, and she was left lying on the ground until the ambulance arrived. There were teachers present at the scene, with the English teacher of the girl’s class not assisting her but instead making phone calls to the head teacher and the principal for about five to six minutes before finally calling for an ambulance.
Some students who went to the hospital at noon to visit the girl were not permitted by the principal to enter the ward or speak about the situation.
Another leaked chat screenshot mentioned that a female PE teacher noticed the girl had stopped breathing, called the principal, but failed to provide any assistance, including using a defibrillator.
Furthermore, another chat screenshot revealed, “I can say that [name redacted] doesn’t want me to talk about this because they want to cover it up. But it’s too unfair for [name redacted], so people who know are speaking out.” “When [her] mother arrived, the ambulance hadn’t come yet, and [she] cried on the ground unable to stand up…”
In a leaked image, a parent hung a banner at the school entrance protesting, stating, “Linhe No. 4 Middle School, Guo Jiajia collapsed during exercise, no one assisted for 20 minutes leading to death!”
