Iran arrests 500 people, accusing them of providing information to the enemy.

Iran’s police chief announced on Sunday that Iran has arrested 500 people, accusing them of providing intelligence to enemies of the Iranian regime. Currently, Israel and the United States are still conducting military strikes against new targets in Iran.

Ahmadreza Radan, the Iranian police chief, stated that half of the cases involve serious incidents, “including those who provided information for targeting, and those who filmed strike locations and sent out the footage.” However, he did not specify when these arrests took place.

Earlier reports from Iranian media indicated that authorities had arrested dozens of individuals in various regions on the same day.

According to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, in northwestern Iran, the provincial prosecutor’s office accused 20 people of sending details regarding Iran’s military and security assets to Israel, and subsequently arrested them.

The agency also reported that in the relatively unaffected northeastern Iran, authorities arrested 10 individuals, some of whom were charged with collecting information on sensitive locations and economic infrastructure.

As per Tasnim News Agency, a provincial branch of the intelligence agency affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran stated: “When the enemies of the Jewish Zionist movement (Israel) and the United States attempt to invade Iran, they simultaneously activate mercenaries and spies to incite riots as the next step of action.”

The Student News Network reported that in Lorestan Province in western Iran, three people were detained for “trying to disrupt public opinion… and burning mourning symbols.”

An informant who received military strategic briefings from Israel revealed to Reuters this week that Israel has begun targeting security checkpoints based on on-the-ground intelligence, marking a new phase in Israeli strikes against Iran.

Back in January of this year, just weeks before the United States and Israel launched the war against Iran, Iran saw widespread anti-government protest activities that faced the harshest crackdown from the Iranian regime since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
