Recently, in the city of Danjiangkou, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, a man purchased a chair online and unexpectedly received an additional 15-kilogram silver ingot worth over 400,000 yuan, causing a stir among netizens.
On the evening of February 3, Mr. Zhang from Danjiangkou City, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, called the police to report that an unknown heavy silver brick had mysteriously appeared in the express delivery he received.
It is reported that Mr. Zhang had recently purchased a chair online. When he opened the package at home, he found not only the item he had purchased but also a metal block wrapped in protective film. Upon unwrapping it, he discovered a rectangular silver ingot.
After verification, it was revealed that the silver brick weighed 15 kilograms. However, the information on the packaging was limited, making it impossible to identify the owner.
It was later confirmed that the silver brick had slipped during the sorting process due to its weight, puncturing Mr. Zhang’s packaging box and getting stuck in the crevice of the chair. After several transfers, it reached Danjiangkou and was mistakenly received by Mr. Zhang at home.
With the assistance of the express delivery company, the owner from Henan, who had paid over 400,000 yuan for the silver brick, was finally located. The brick, which was supposed to arrive two days earlier, had not been received by the owner, causing considerable anxiety.
After thorough checking of information, the owner reclaimed the silver brick.
Chinese netizens have been discussing the incident, with some praising the individual’s high moral standards: “I doubt there are still people with such noble morals nowadays.” “It is estimated that this person is religious, and only religious people have moral conscience nowadays.”
Others commented: “If you keep this silver ingot in secret without reporting it, you will definitely be in big trouble. Someone might report you, claiming that there were originally three silver bricks inside and demand compensation. How would you deal with that? Express delivery is all real-name registered, so finding you won’t be that difficult.”
