On the evening of Wednesday, August 6th, a serious hitting incident occurred in Yueyang City, Hunan Province. A small red truck with the “Kudi” trademark suddenly crashed into a ChaYanYueSe milk tea shop near the Dongting South Road in Yueyang, knocking down several customers who were waiting in line. The accident has resulted in at least 3 deaths and multiple injuries.
After the incident, a large amount of eyewitness videos quickly spread online. From the videos, it can be seen that the truck suddenly accelerated and crashed into several customers, some laying on the ground while others were pinned under the vehicle. Many onlookers gathered at the scene, and the police quickly arrived to cordon off the accident site.
According to the Sanxiang Metropolitan Daily, an eyewitness who was near the counter at the time said that there was a loud noise at the time of the incident, and when they turned around, they saw the truck heading straight towards them. Fortunately, the truck was eventually stopped by the door frame of the milk tea shop, preventing more serious injuries from occurring.
A staff member at the ChaYanYueSe shop mentioned that after the accident, the store quickly called the police, closed the shop doors, and comforted the remaining customers inside the store.
Employees at the nearby HuanMan hotel told the media that the police have currently blocked off the scene and set up barriers. A large number of locals have gathered around the site, but they are unable to see the situation inside.
Reports circulating on the internet mentioned that the incident led to the deaths of two adults and one child, with the scene being described as gruesome. Some netizens suspect that this was not just a regular traffic accident, but a deliberate act of hitting people by the driver as a form of retaliation against society. In recent years, social conflicts have intensified in mainland China, leading to a rise in incidents like driving into people and seeking revenge against society.
As of now, local authorities have not issued a specific report, and investigations are still ongoing into the cause of the accident and the motive of the driver.
