In various parts of China, there have been frequent reports of strange phenomena appearing in the sky. On August 23, in Lufeng City, Shanwei, Guangdong Province, a spectacular “blue jet lightning” phenomenon was spotted over the sea. Four days later, in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, numerous unidentified flying objects emitting red and green lights were seen hovering in the sky for about 20 minutes.
On the night of August 27, netizens reported that near Zhigu Street, Huancheng Expressway in Songbei District, Harbin City, more unidentified flying objects emitting light appeared in the sky and remained suspended for about 20 minutes.
Videos captured by netizens showed numerous unidentified flying objects hovering over a building, emitting mostly red and green lights. The lights were densely packed in a long strip shape, hanging motionless in the night sky without flickering.
Jimo News confirmed that this phenomenon occurred near Zhigu Street, Huancheng Expressway in Songbei District, Harbin.
Some netizens described the objects as “dense and elongated, emitting mostly red and green lights, with stable light sources and no flickering, hovering high in the sky before moving slowly. Witnesses claimed that the altitude of the flying objects far exceeded that of common drones, ruling out the possibility of meteors (which usually disappear instantly).”
“Since the beginning of this year, various unidentified luminous flying objects of different forms have been appearing in the sky in many parts of the country, including sword-like objects, disc-shaped objects, and even dragons. Could it be that spiritual energy is truly reviving?” “The altitude of the unidentified flying objects in Harbin is above the aircraft flight path, clearly indicating that drones cannot fly so high. So who or what exactly is behind this phenomenon?”
A netizen with an IP address in Heilongjiang said, “On August 22, I captured an unidentified light source, initially mistaking it for the moon. However, when the dark clouds cleared, I found nothing there, and it didn’t seem like light refracted from the ground. What on earth could this be?”
According to the report by Fengmi News, on August 23 around 9 pm, in a wild sea area in Lufeng City, Shanwei, Guangdong Province, photography enthusiast Xin Hongbiao accidentally captured the spectacular phenomenon of “blue jet lightning” while shooting the Milky Way.
Xin Hongbiao mentioned that on that evening, he was at a sparsely populated beach near the Wang Lianchang Memorial Hall in Lufeng, setting up his tripod by the sea to prepare for a time-lapse photography of the Milky Way. “Unexpectedly, the tripod was slightly tilted by the waves, resulting in capturing the blue jet in the thunderstorm cloud.”
“While packing up, my child told me there was a lightning in the sky…” “Though the place we were shooting was clear, there was constant thunder in the distance, occurring at a very high frequency,” Xin Hongbiao said. He has a hobby of capturing extreme weather and this was the first time in his over a decade of photography career to capture a blue sprite lightning.
A viral video shows a blue light beam rising into the sky from the golden thundercloud, resembling Earthlings sending a signal to the universe. Yang Yuexin, a senior engineer at the Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau, stated that the occurrence rate of blue jet lightning is much lower than that of red sprite lightning. Blue jet lightning typically forms near the top of penetrative convective clouds, with a chance of occurrence less than one in ten thousand.
Yang Yuexin pointed out that there are only a few occasions worldwide each year when blue jet lightning is captured, and this time, it should be the clearest blue jet event captured domestically.
