On Wednesday, federal officials in the United States reported that a shooting incident occurred at a local Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas, Texas, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities. The gunman died by a self-inflicted gunshot after the incident.
According to local media reports, authorities received a call around 7:30 a.m. local time reporting a shooting at the ICE office in northwest Dallas, prompting a swift response to the scene.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem posted on X platform confirming multiple casualties at the scene, as well as the death of the gunman.
Responding to Noem’s post, Vice President JD Vance wrote, “The reckless attacks on law enforcement officers, especially on ICE personnel, must stop. My thoughts and prayers are with all the injured individuals and their families in this attack.”
Local ABC affiliate WFAA cited sources revealing that the gunman was found dead on the roof of a nearby building.
ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons informed CNN, “Preliminary information suggests that it may have been a sniper.”
CNN reported that law enforcement confirmed the gunman was a white male who fatally shot himself in the head as agents approached. The three victims were individuals detained by ICE. Investigations are underway.
Some media outlets have reported that at least some of the victims are in critical condition.
