According to reports from mainland media on July 6, in the Bai Lang Scenic Area of East Jianghu in Bai Lang Town, Zixing City, Hunan, a shipwreck accident occurred around 4:30 pm on the 5th, as a tour boat capsized due to a level 11 strong wind.
It is understood that the boat has a maximum capacity of 40 passengers, but at the time of the incident, it was carrying 29 people. As of around 6:00 pm on July 5, 28 people have been rescued, with 27 of them in no danger of life, 1 person is drowning and being rescued, and 1 person is missing and being searched for.
Public information shows that the Bai Lang waters are located within the jurisdiction of Bai Lang Town, Zixing City, Hunan Province, adjacent to the Swanshan National Forest Park and Xingning Ancient Town.
A local resident told Jiemu News that the weather forecast showed clear skies in the morning and noon of July 5, but around 4 pm, heavy rain suddenly began with strong winds and lightning.
So far this year, there have been frequent incidents of tour boats capsizing at tourist spots across China.
On May 4, in a well-known scenic area in Qianxi District, Bijie City, Guizhou Province, a tour boat capsized, resulting in 84 people falling into the water, 10 deaths, and 70 people hospitalized for treatment.
On April 21, a boat capsized in Pingjiang County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, resulting in the tragic deaths of all 6 people on board.
On February 25, another boat capsized in Yuanling Township, Qinglang, Huaihua City, Hunan, causing 19 people to fall into the water. Hunan authorities confirmed 11 deaths and 5 people missing, but there has been no further update.
