Northeast Philadelphia Philanthropic Association Holds Community Resource Fair and Awards Volunteers

On the afternoon of August 24th, the Northeast Philadelphia Community Association (NEPCA) held a free community resource fair and entertainment event at the Bustleton Learning Center, attracting hundreds of participants. NEPCA invited Pennsylvania State Representative Jared Solomon to present awards to dozens of volunteers and partners, recognizing their voluntary service to the community. The awards included the President’s Volunteer Service Award, Outstanding Volunteer Award, Volunteer Appreciation Award, and Partner Appreciation Award.

NEPCA is a volunteer organization, founded by President Pearl Huynh, who received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for serving 2011 hours of voluntary service. This is her third consecutive year receiving this honor. The event was hosted by Sue Cheng, who also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for serving 532 hours of voluntary service. Additionally, nine others were also recipients of this award.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award, symbolizing the highest honor for volunteers, was established by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in 2003 to recognize individuals who positively impact communities across the United States and inspire others to take action.

Representative Solomon expressed his gratitude to President Pearl Huynh for her dedication to the community, especially noting the significant participation of young people in volunteer service. Representative Solomon told Epoch Times, “The Chinese community in Northeast Philadelphia has cultivated a new generation of leaders who will contribute to a more vibrant business community and a more stable residential community, making the community more lively and prosperous. This is largely due to the strength of the Chinese community, entirely because of individuals like Pearl Huynh.” Reflecting on the day’s events, he emphasized how Huynh’s leadership and civic participation were inspiring others and nurturing a new generation of leaders who will drive the community forward.
