On July 4th, it was reported online that a public official in Jiexiu City, Shanxi Province, publicly tore up materials related to citizens’ affairs.

According to a report by “Da Wan News” on the 5th, Mr. He, the individual involved, stated that he had previously filed a complaint about the fees for the elevators in his residential complex. On the afternoon of July 4th, he went to the Market Supervision Bureau in Jiexiu City to inquire about the handling of his complaint and requested that the staff print out the relevant results for him.

Subsequently, the staff informed him that they needed to seek approval from their superiors regarding whether he could take the results with him. They then consulted Wang, the person in charge of the Price Supervision and Inspection Division of the bureau. Wang stated that Mr. He could not take the handling results with him and proceeded to tear up the relevant documents in front of everyone.

Mr. Hao expressed that as a citizen who had come to handle official matters, he found Wang’s actions of tearing up public affairs materials unacceptable. He reported the situation to the bureau’s key personnel and the Disciplinary Inspection Commission in Jiexiu City, but has yet to receive a response.

This incident has generated significant attention online.

Netizens have criticized the behavior of the official, questioning, “Such arrogance,” “Typical official behavior,” “Serving the people??”, “If public officials refuse to serve the public, then why hold such positions?” “The more they claim to serve the people, the more arrogant Party members and officials become,” and “Will the next step be tearing up the public themselves?”

As reported earlier, on the 5th, the relevant staff of the Market Supervision Bureau in Jiexiu City mentioned that Wang was currently out conducting inspections, and the person responsible for the incident was aware of the situation.
