An elderly woman in her late eighties recently sent a handwritten letter to the Global Quitting the Party Service Center located in Flushing, New York at the beginning of June, declaring her withdrawal from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In the letter, she solemnly stated her decision to sever ties with the CCP and become a conscientious Chinese citizen.
What’s even more surprising is that on June 25th, this 88-year-old woman, Mrs. Liu, and her husband personally visited the office of the Global Quitting the Party Service Center in Flushing to not only confirm if her statement was received but also to express the reasons behind her earnest submission.
Mrs. Liu expressed that it was uncomfortable for her mentally not to have withdrawn from the CCP organization. “The burden on my heart has been growing heavier, so I want to relieve myself of it which would in turn make life easier. We do not have much time left, and in the remaining years, it would be nice to live in peace.”
Due to her age and lack of knowledge on how to operate the internet, Mrs. Liu mentioned that she could not make the withdrawal online or by phone, so they resorted to the “dumb” method of writing a letter to declare her withdrawal.
In her withdrawal letter, she recounted the ups and downs of her life, witnessing the calamities caused by the CCP’s governance. She stated, “Over the decades since the CCP came into power, I have personally experienced the brutal suppression within the regime. It started with violence, with a few privileged holding a monopoly over the country’s power and resources, ruthlessly exploiting the vast working class, leading to a shocking level of social inequality.”
The letter was signed and dated, clearly expressing her intention to withdraw from the CCP organization, also known as “quitting the three associations.” She reiterated, “I am determined to sever ties, quit the CCP’s organizational faction, and become a conscious Chinese citizen.”
Upon receiving the letter, Chen Xi, at the office of the Global Quitting the Party Center, was deeply moved. Following the elderly woman’s request, he registered her withdrawal on the quitting the party website (tuidang.org), completing the registration and recording the registration number.
Chen Xi stated, “This nearly century-old individual, with neat handwriting, earnestly declared her withdrawal from the CCP. The urgency and sincerity can be seen throughout her words.”
Mrs. Liu mentioned that individuals of their age have experienced various political movements, including the resistance against the Japanese invasion, the Chinese Civil War, and all political movements since the establishment of the CCP. “We have experienced all the past political movements from start to finish. When we were young, we didn’t quite understand the truth, but we felt that the movements were endless and very annoying. After understanding the truth and being able to discern, things became clearer, and we felt much better.”
Mrs. Liu stated, “Quitting the CCP has relieved me of my burden and given me spiritual freedom.”
She expressed gratitude to the Quitting the Party volunteers, “I have read ‘Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party,’ which had a profound impact on me. In mainland China, quitting the Party volunteers are bravely disseminating the message of quitting the Party at great risk. I thank you all; it’s not easy.”
In 2004, Epoch Times published a series of editorials, “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party,” which sparked a global wave of withdrawals from the CCP. The trend of quitting the CCP has gained momentum and penetrated into people’s hearts, lasting for 22 years. In mainland China, numerous quitting the party volunteers are risking their safety to spread the truth, expose the CCP’s lies, and persuade people to quit. They write about quitting the Party on banknotes, post them in hallways, or verbally advise people to quit. Similarly, worldwide, a multitude of volunteers are persuading Chinese people to quit through various means such as online platforms, calls, tourist spots, streets, and truth clarification sites.
Choosing whether to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations has become a symbol of conscience for many Chinese people amidst the battle between right and wrong.
According to statistics from the Quitting the Party website, as of June this year, a total of 463 million Chinese people have withdrawn from the CCP’s organizational factions (besides using real names, aliases, pseudonyms, or nicknames). On average, around 40,000 Chinese citizens declare their withdrawal every day through various methods. Those in need of a legally recognized Chinese-English “withdrawal certificate” can also apply for one on the quitting the party website as instructed.
