Thailand: Bangkok Freight Train Collides with Bus, at Least 8 Dead and 15 Injured

A fatal collision involving a freight train and a bus occurred near Maeklong Mountain Railway in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday afternoon, around 3 pm local time. The bus caught fire, spreading to several other cars. The accident has resulted in at least 8 fatalities and 15 injuries, with 2 individuals in critical condition.

According to a report by Thai media outlet Nation Thailand, the incident took place around 3:40 pm on Saturday when the freight train collided with a bus near the Maeklong station on the Bangkok Airport Rail Link.

The specific location of the crash was on Asok-Din Daeng Road, between the intersections of Rama IX and Asok-Phetchaburi.

Footage captured by nearby residents from elevated areas shows explosions at the scene, with flames shooting up into the sky and thick smoke billowing. (Video link)
