The US Embassy in Kyiv issued a statement saying that it had received reliable information indicating the possibility of a major airstrike on Wednesday (November 20). As a precautionary measure, the embassy will be closed.

According to the statement released by the US Embassy in Ukraine on Wednesday, the embassy has received concrete information about a potential major airstrike on November 20, prompting the closure of the embassy. The statement also instructed embassy staff to take shelter on-site.

On the eve of the one-thousandth day since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian military launched an attack on a weapons depot in the Russian Bryansk Oblast.

Both Russian and Ukrainian military officials confirmed that Ukraine employed ATACMS missiles provided by the United States for the first time in this attack.

Reports indicate that President Biden approved the use of US-made long-range missiles by the Ukrainian military to target Russian assets in the country this week.

Russian President Putin signed revised rules on Tuesday that lowered the threshold for Russia’s use of nuclear weapons.

The new regulations state that if any country carries out a conventional attack on Russia with the support of a nuclear-weapon state, it will be considered a joint attack on Russia.

On the same day, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, issued a warning to Russian authorities regarding this move.

“This is not the first time they have escalated nuclear threats, it is completely irresponsible,” Borrell stated. “There are no winners in nuclear war, Russia must acknowledge this principle. Therefore, nuclear war must not be waged.”
