On August 5th, a dangerous incident occurred on a highway in Hubei Province, China. A BYD Han electric car’s rear windshield suddenly flew off and hit a vehicle behind it, causing the front windshield of the affected car to be covered in cracks instantly. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
The owner of the affected car, known as “Ezreal” on the social media platform Douyin, shared dashcam footage of the incident. At 3:48 PM, a black BYD vehicle was driving ahead when its rear windshield detached and flew towards the following car, which couldn’t evade the impact, resulting in severe damage to its front windshield.
The car owner has reported the incident to the authorities, and the extent of the damages is still being assessed.
At present, mainland Chinese media have not covered this event, but Hong Kong’s “Sing Tao Daily” and Taiwan’s “Liberty Times” have reported on it.
According to publicly available information, the BYD Han is a mid-sized luxury sedan under the BYD brand, serving as one of the flagship models in their Dynasty series. It comes in pure electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (DM-i, DM-p) versions, with the EV version being the most popular. The 2026 Han EV is priced between approximately 179,800 yuan and 259,800 yuan.
