Mainland Chinese Actor Gong Jun Injured While Filming Overseas TV Show, Studio Criticized

Recently, mainland Chinese actor Gong Jun, who rose to fame with the drama series “Word of Honor,” traveled to Italy to film the variety show “Super Fresh Earth.” Unfortunately, during a game segment, he accidentally got injured, with the corner of his eye suspected to have been bruised and almost injuring his eye. The studio that did not accompany Gong Jun on the trip to Italy has not responded to public concerns, leading to worries and dissatisfaction among his fans.

On June 12, photos circulating online showed Gong Jun with an eye injury above his right eye near the eyebrow bone, visibly swollen, and the wound is close to the eye socket. After news of the injury spread, fans reached out to the studio for verification. The studio replied, “Waiting for a response from there (Italy), there is a time difference, they are still sleeping over there.” This response further angered fans, criticizing the studio for its delayed reaction to the artist’s safety.

On the morning of June 13, Gong Jun’s studio issued a statement on its official Weibo account, stating that Gong Jun accidentally scraped his eye socket while dodging in a game segment the previous night. “On-site medical staff promptly handled the injury, and emergency measures were communicated to the production team at the time of the incident. There is currently no major problem,” the statement emphasized. It also reassured, “Professional medical staff are present throughout the program recording for everyone’s peace of mind.”

While the statement assured fans of Gong Jun’s safety, the phrase “for everyone’s peace of mind” further aroused dissatisfaction among fans: “Other guests have their managers’ assistants accompany them for recordings, why didn’t you go with him? Please provide an explanation,” “When will the studio be dissolved and reorganized?” “Sending him (Gong Jun) to work abroad alone is irresponsible of the studio.” Fans also requested the studio and managers to pay attention to the risk of infection in Gong Jun’s wound and hoped that the safety of the artist would be taken seriously.
