Shenzhen Huanggang Port Late-night Customs Clearance Severely Disturbs Residents, Receives Complaints

In recent days, residents living near the Huanggang Port in Shenzhen, which is currently the only 24-hour border crossing point to Hong Kong, have raised complaints about the disturbance caused by the heavy flow of vehicles during the night, affecting their normal rest. Suggestions have been made online to cancel the 24-hour clearance at the Huanggang Port.

According to a report by “Au Yi News,” netizens recently lodged complaints on the People’s Daily website’s leadership message board, stating that every night from 11 p.m. to the early hours of the morning, a large number of vehicles flood towards the Huanggang Port, with especially high traffic on Friday to Sunday nights, causing severe disturbance to the nearby residents’ rest due to the loud noises of car horns and traffic flow.

Public data indicates that there are currently 16 border crossings from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, including 7 land border crossings, 2 railway border crossings, 6 waterway border crossings, and 1 aviation border crossing. Huanggang Port, being a 24-hour clearance point, sees an average daily passenger flow of about 81,000 people and an average daily vehicle flow of approximately 20,000 vehicles.

As described by the netizen, residential areas like Fumin New Village and Huangyuyuan in the vicinity of Huanggang Port are located only 100 to 200 meters away from the port, making the impact of nighttime noise extensive.

Videos shared by the netizen show a significant traffic jam of vehicles at the Huanggang Port during the night, with continuously audible sharp honking sounds.

The netizen suggested canceling the 24-hour clearance at Huanggang Port, including at the Shenzhen Bay Port and the Wenjindu Port.

In response, a reporter from “Au Yi News” contacted the Shenzhen Port Office on January 22nd. The staff stated that they would strengthen control over vehicles that violate honking regulations, adjust the cargo inspection process at Huanggang Port, and effectively alleviate issues such as noise disturbance to residents.

This measure is expected to bring relief to the affected residents.
