Southwest District National Day Celebration “Liberty Fest” to be Held on June 30th

The “Liberty Fest” celebration event for the American Independence Day, organized by the Southwest Management Zone Committee, will be held on Sunday, June 30th at 4 pm. The event will take place at Plaza America, located at the intersection of Bellaire Boulevard and Highway 59 in Chinatown. The spacious parking lot can accommodate approximately 4,000 cars and parking will be free. This year, there will be over a hundred diverse booths sponsored by various companies, featuring traditional performances from different ethnic groups, lively music, and a grand fireworks display around 8:55 pm synchronized with American patriotic songs. The event welcomes families to join in the festivities!

Chairman Li Xiong of the Southwest Zone stated that this year marks the third consecutive year of the event, with over a hundred booths and sponsors already registered. There will be nearly 50 delicious food and drink options available, including popular eateries like Boba House, Crazy Chicken, Delicias Tropicales, Gerry’s Grill, and Taqueria Americas, offering a variety of flavors from Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and South America. Additionally, there will be handcrafted items, leather goods, origami, skincare products, business associations, and even HPD recruitment opportunities available. The event is suitable for families to enjoy together, with a special children’s area and air-conditioned buses provided by the organizers for those who may need a break from the heat.

Notably, the Houston Police Department, the only police department in the U.S. with a lion dance team, will be performing the traditional lion dance. The renowned East Wind Band and various other exciting performances are also scheduled to entertain the attendees. The Southwest Zone team has been preparing for nearly half a year for this large-scale cultural event that celebrates the diversity of the Southwest community.

The Southwest Zone is home to immigrants from around the world, and this event aims to create an atmosphere of American freedom, democracy, and cultural celebration for all, while also promoting a better understanding of the United States. It is hoped that every new immigrant or resident can celebrate Independence Day right in the Southwest Management Zone, without having to travel to the city center. This event is one of the largest in the southern region and is expected to attract over ten thousand visitors on the day.

A friendly reminder to all sponsors that booth setup will begin at 8 am and must be completed by 2 pm, either beforehand or on-site. Any delays will result in the space being opened up to waiting backup sponsors.
