Renowned singer “King of Golden Melody” Xiao Huangqi is set to release a new album in 2024. His latest single “Just Lonely” was digitally released today, featuring a music video where Xiao Huangqi takes on the role of a detective, alongside skilled actor Jiang Guobin.
After a long hiatus, Xiao Huangqi is back with a new album, following the success of his upbeat single “Good Show.” This time, he returns to his specialty of heartfelt ballads with the new single “Just Lonely.” The theme of loneliness resonates throughout the song, evoking profound feelings of solitude and helplessness through Xiao Huangqi’s captivating vocals.
In the music video, Jiang Guobin plays the male lead, a man who makes a living by fraud. One day, he meets a young barista online and develops feelings for her, leading him to follow her, visit her café, and feel betrayed when he witnesses her intimate interactions with someone else. Feeling lonely and betrayed, he begins harassing her with messages, unaware that Xiao Huangqi, portraying a detective, is already tracking his every move.
The story unfolds with Xiao Huangqi bringing the fraudster to justice, leaving a poignant impact on the audience. Jiang Guobin’s heartfelt performance, shedding tears as the plot unfolds, deeply moved the entire production team, conveying the character’s intense loneliness effectively through the screen.
Xiao Huangqi expressed his gratitude for having Jiang Guobin join the music video, mentioning, “I feel honored to have him on board. He has been a familiar face to me since my childhood as my mom would watch a particular drama series where he starred. I grew up watching him.” Jiang Guobin laughed, responding, “I’ve been aging listening to your songs too!”
