Shanghai Visiting Citizen Kidnapped while Taking Out the Trash

Shanghai petitioner Chen Meihua was kidnapped by the government for stability maintenance when she went out to throw garbage. She was sent to a guesthouse in the West Mountain Scenic Area of Suzhou by members of the underworld. In the black prison, she sent out a distress message saying, “I want to go home!”

Chen Meihua, a 70-year-old woman from Jing’an District, Shanghai, became a petitioner due to the demolition of an old house on Cixi Road in Jing’an District, where the government did not consider the interests of other family members in the demolition process, prompting her to resort to petitioning. The house is a historical site from the Republic of China era with traces of old Shanghai. Chen Meihua had been living there before liberation, and with the house now demolished without proper resettlement by the government, she has been left homeless. Despite her age of 70, she has been continuously petitioning in Beijing to protect her rights, enduring persecution by being detained in black prisons.

A reporter from Dajiyuan contacted Chen Meihua on her phone, and she said, “I have been locked up in a black prison by them again. My life is worthless now, I was almost killed several times. They make me sit in a wheelchair all day and sleep like that at night. Last time, they didn’t give me any food or water for 8 days in the black prison, intending to starve me to death. Fortunately, I was lucky to survive, but my health is deteriorating. This time, I refuse to eat the food they provide out of fear of being poisoned, so I asked them to buy me some biscuits, which I have been eating for the past 10 days. I have no idea how long they plan to keep me locked up this time, and they won’t tell me.”

Chen Meihua recorded a conversation with a black security guard in the black prison, shouting, “I want to go home!”

Song Jiahong, the person who released the “Shanghai Black Prison List,” expressed his emotions upon seeing a video of Chen Meihua crying out in the black prison, saying, “I want to go home! My brother is relying on me!” He couldn’t help but shed tears.

He mentioned, “In China, as long as there’s an order from above, the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China can be overlooked, like a play, which is too dangerous! This shows the failure of the ‘Regulations on Letters and Visits work.'”

In early July, Shanghai petitioner Chen Tinglan was intercepted at a checkpoint while traveling to Beijing and was later handed over to Shanghai’s Beijing Office staff and sent back to Shanghai, where she was immediately taken to a black prison on Chongming Island.

On July 10th, Chen Tinglan escaped from the Chongming black prison, re-entered Beijing, and was intercepted by seven or eight people from the Jing’an District Beijing Office. There is currently no further information on whether Chen Tinglan has been detained in the black prison again.

Chen Tinglan, a 59-year-old woman from Shimen Er Road in Jing’an District, Shanghai, purchased a house from a pair of brothers in Shanghai in 2007, but the house has not been handed over to her to this day. The two brothers have occupied the property for many years, and despite legal judgments ordering them to return the property within 10 days, the Jing’an District Court has been acting as their protector, delaying implementation.

With no other options, Chen Tinglan was forced to turn to the central government in Beijing to address her grievances.
