When she left the entertainment industry for her family, Rosamund Kwan responds to rumors of a comeback.

Former Hong Kong artist, Flora Chan (Ma Lei-jia-er) who has been out of the limelight for many years, attended a bank event on the 3rd. At 52 years old, she still looks radiant, and when asked about a recent photo shared by TVB executive Lok Yee-ling showing them together, it sparked speculation among netizens hoping for her return to acting. In response, she said, “It’s all about fate. If there’s a good script and time in the future, we’ll see.”

Flora Chan got married to businessman Ma Ting-keung in 2008 and gradually faded out of the entertainment industry. As a mother of three daughters, she occasionally shares snippets of her life on social media. On June 3rd, she attended a bank event in Admiralty, where she shared stories of her daily life with family and friends through three self-created artificial intelligence artworks, as well as their travels around the world with her three daughters.

Regarding her recent reunion with her former co-star from the drama series “The Greed of Man,” Charmaine Sheh, at the gym, Flora expressed happiness. The two actresses both employ the same trainer but don’t frequently run into each other. They occasionally meet up for meals, keep in touch with Jessica Hsuan and Gigi Lai. Flora also revealed, “I miss the days of working with Moses Chan and Bobby Au-yeung. We were good friends, but I have fewer interactions with male colleagues.”

When asked if she still has the desire to act, she admitted, “I really miss acting and the camaraderie with my former co-stars because we had a lot of fun working together. However, nowadays both work and personal life keep me busy. Shooting a series takes too long. There have been offers coming in one after another, but I’ve had to turn them down due to time constraints. It all depends on fate. If there’s a good script and the timing is right, I’ll consider it.”

Born into a family with a background in the film industry, Flora Chan entered showbiz at 14 and starred in popular works such as the “Young and Dangerous” film series, “Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils,” and many other dramas. She won the “My Favorite Actress Award” at the TVB Anniversary Awards for her role as Hou Gai-ying in “The Greed of Man,” along with Charmaine Sheh, Jessica Hsuan, and Gigi Lai, becoming one of TVB’s “Four Great Actresses.”

Known for her versatility in acting, singing, and modeling, Flora Chan decided to leave the entertainment industry during the peak of her career to take care of her brother who had suffered a serious car accident. In 2008, she married wealthy businessman Ma Ting-keung, who uses a wheelchair for mobility, and changed her name to Ma Lei-jia-er. She took over the management of her brother’s medical aesthetics company and successfully turned it into a publicly listed company in 2017, earning her the title of “The Most Beautiful CEO in the Entertainment Industry.”

There have been rumors suggesting that the name “Jia-er” sounds like “add a son” in Chinese, hinting at the desire for a son in the Ma family. Therefore, some netizens speculate that Flora Chan changed her name in hopes of having a son.
