On June 2, 2024, the China Democracy Party called on all individuals who cherish democracy and freedom to utilize AI technology and self-media platforms to establish a grassroots information network, widely spread the truth, and leave a record for history.
At a seminar commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests, Zhong Shan, a member of the China Democracy Party and a volunteer for the Democratic Education Foundation’s network project, expressed the hope to start providing multimedia training for volunteers involved in activism in San Francisco, United States. Whether reporting on local events, hometown struggles, cases of conscience prisoners, or the current state of civil society, everyone can contribute by doing a one-minute broadcast, reporting on their own.
According to Zhong, the suffering in remote areas of China is little known because the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) never reports on it. Furthermore, the CCP is currently mass-deleting historical records from the internet, including all speeches by Jack Ma from 1998 to 2005, which are almost entirely erased. Even well-known figures like Jack Ma are being deliberately erased by the CCP, let alone the injustices suffered by ordinary people.
The CCP will definitely not preserve these historical records. Therefore, overseas individuals should contribute their efforts to their homeland, strive to document the truth of history, and spread it.
The Democratic Education Foundation’s network project aims to enhance the skills and service capacity of volunteers, providing onsite and remote diversified training.
Training content includes interviewing, editing, production, and broadcasting techniques in multimedia production; using artificial intelligence to improve the quality of writing; enhancing participants’ English public speaking skills and cultivating the ability to speak independently in front of the public.
Zhong mentioned that with the help of AI technology, producing video broadcasts has become very simple. Long video reports no longer require manual word-by-word narration, as AI can automatically handle that. We only need to focus on creating a one-minute narration.
He encourages everyone to learn multimedia production techniques and master a one-minute English speech.
Zhong expressed his hope to establish stable broadcasting partnerships with volunteers from various regions to provide advocacy and service support for mainland Chinese citizens’ disclosures.
He sincerely invites those who cherish democracy and freedom to start as one-minute broadcasters, participate in their projects, become broadcasters, provide comments and submissions, advocate for conscience prisoners in their hometowns, and ensure that their voices are heard and understood more broadly.
Furthermore, he also hopes to establish closer connections between activists in the democracy movement and individual dissenters, and continue to strive for democratic freedom. ◇
