China has experienced another mining disaster on the mainland, with a collapse occurring at a private illegal mining site in Huize County, Yunnan Province at 4:30 am on May 31st, resulting in the death of five people and one person injured.
According to official media reports, at the time of the incident, six people were trapped, and despite efforts to rescue them, five of them succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the hospital, while the remaining person was injured.
The private illegal mining site is located in Baiwu Village, Nagu Town, Huize County, in a remote mountainous area. However, the reports did not mention the specific mineral being mined at this site.
Prior to this mining disaster in Yunnan, a serious gas explosion occurred at the Liushenyu Coal Mine in Qinyuan County, Shanxi Province on May 22nd, resulting in at least 82 deaths, marking the most severe mining accident in China in 17 years.
