Collapsing of Henan bridge embankment exposes pile foundation, netizens worry about collapse.

In Henan Province, Shan County, Sanmenxia City, a landslide occurred around the abutment of the Gold Water River Bridge on National Highway 310, with some bridge piles exposed. Concerns about the potential collapse of the bridge have been raised by netizens after news of the incident spread on social media.

According to a report by “Xiaoxiang Morning Post,” at around 17:00 on June 21, the construction management company of the National Highway 310 Southward Movement Project in Sanmenxia City issued a notice. The notice stated that a landslide occurred due to rain erosion on the cliff slope near Pier 12 of the northbound lane of the Gold Water River Bridge, causing the pile foundation to be exposed. The exposed pile foundation is the designed residual invalid pile length, which does not bear the load of the bridge and does not affect the overall bearing capacity of the bridge structure. As of now, the main structure of the bridge is in a safe condition.

This incident has sparked widespread attention and discussion among netizens. Many internet users have questioned the official notice, believing that its credibility is questionable. Some netizens have sarcastically commented: “The official response is very astute!”
