Today’s focus: Is your beloved car turning into a prison? Tesla owners shocked; US officials warn Xi: No weakness! Will Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan become the Chinese People’s Congress? Massive protests in 15 districts; How to break the expanded powers law? Is dissolving the parliament feasible for Lai Ching-te; “Our China”? Taiwanese stars forced to make a statement, the president sends warm comfort.
Chinese-made electric cars are conquering the overseas markets, but recently they are facing frequent setbacks both domestically and internationally.
The high-end electric car brand under Geely Group, Polestar, has recently sparked complaints from car owners. A user was locked inside the car, even though the system showed the door was open, they couldn’t get the door to open.
Questions:
Q1 Qin Yue, after watching this video, would you still dare to buy Chinese-made electric cars?
A: I would definitely not buy it. If I did, I would not only have to consider road safety, but also have to keep a hammer handy to break the window in case I get locked inside. If I were a human rights activist in China, doesn’t this mean that as long as the mainland police unilaterally deem me guilty, they can remotely lock me in? Doesn’t this turn the car into a mobile prison?
Q2 Jin Shi, with this kind of quality, do European and American governments still need to worry about the dumping of Chinese electric cars? Will the market eventually phase them out?
Q3 Tang Hao, what’s your take?
Transition words: Alright, economic invasion can still be prevented using tariffs and other methods; but how can intangible invasion be resisted? Let’s learn more later.
On the 28th, the Kuomintang and People’s Party, with numerical advantage, passed certain articles of the Legislative Yuan’s Exercise of Powers Act and amendments to the Criminal Law to establish the offense of “contempt of parliament”.
The blue-white camp cheered for a “transparent parliament” as a celebration; meanwhile, Democratic Progressive Party lawmakers shouted “against behind-the-scenes deals, against bad laws” in the audience.
That night, around the Legislative Yuan, 70,000 people gathered in protest. People united to push a balloon inscribed with “Reject Chinese manipulation” inside the Legislative Yuan’s walls, leading to cheers erupting on-site. That day, there were petition protests in 15 counties across Taiwan.
Questions:
Q1 Jin Shi, such a controversial bill passed just like that? Given this trend, why does it remind me of the Chinese Communist Party’s rubber-stamp “National People’s Congress”?
Q2 Tang Hao, Lai Ching-te just took office, and the Democratic Progressive Party just won a third term in power, why did the blue-white camp rush to deliver this heated gift package? // Interestingly, on the second day after the bill was passed, the chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, McCaul, visited the Legislative Yuan and urged Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu, hoping that Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan could support Taiwan’s defense just like the US Congress, with both US parties and Taiwan’s Kuomintang and Democratic Progressive Party working together to protect democracy. This call is quite intriguing. Could it be that the US also sees that once the law comes into effect, the Chinese Communist Party may have more opportunities to intervene in Taiwan? What extreme scenarios could unfold?
Q3 Qin Peng, the Chinese Communist Party is now employing a multi-pronged approach; influencing “legislators” on one hand and influencing “actors,” broadly defined, on the other hand. Recently, many Taiwanese actors and celebrities have clearly been coerced by the Chinese Communist Party, forced to collectively state “Our China.” It feels as though the Chinese Communist Party is child’s play compared to this. If a celebrity says “Our China,” does that mean you’ve won, Chinese Communist Party? Can you change reality? What is the Chinese Communist Party trying to achieve? (Can they achieve it?) Are they trying to influence Taiwanese people or mainland Chinese?
A: Your analysis is spot on. The Chinese Communist Party’s performance is childish and laughable. When you understand the CCP, you realize it is truly childish and foolish. Even the top leaders of the party behave like clowns, running around with no direction, only capable of reciting from a script or threatening journalists by saying they’ve already decided on the Chief Executive and the journalists should “keep quiet and get rich.” Why? Because when you understand the CCP’s real history, read “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party,” their performances become transparent before your eyes.
So, the CCP is most afraid of people learning the truth, so it resorts to constant deception and various thug tactics. Some people are motivated by money or fear of losing benefits, so the CCP will blackmail them. They claim to love China but this foreign evil party of Marx and Lenin pretends to be the legitimate representatives of the Chinese people. Not only have they instilled a series of false histories to confuse people, but they also use incentives or threats to get people to follow their instructions. That’s what the CCP does.
Can they achieve their goals? It’s getting harder and harder. Look at how strict the CCP is getting with internet censorship. They easily shut down accounts on WeChat and Weibo, even flipping the script on official accounts. Their main goal is to deceive people who lack life experience or those who are simple-minded and can’t distinguish between the CCP and China, patriotism and supporting the CCP. Just a few days ago, a “Pink Auntie” thought Taiwan was going to be recovered and celebrated with drinks, but people in the comments laughed at her and made her feel embarrassed. Why? Because most Chinese people understand. Especially in recent years under the leadership of the Tzu Chin Founder, after various follies and shortcomings, more and more Chinese people are waking up from decades of deception in the series of CCP iron fists.
By acting this way, the CCP has two aims: externally, it aligns with Taiwan and uses the statement of Taiwan’s National Security Bureau Director Tsai Ming-yan, which states, “suspect the US, suspect the military, suspect Lai,” as a means of intimidation rather than starting a war. Internally, they intend to deceive the mainland Chinese. That’s why, even with no real military threat, they create cheap animations featuring a few university students to depict rockets flying and bombing Taiwan, or virtually “reclaiming” the Taiwan Strait with a bridge, fooling the avid young supporters. The HK and Taiwanese actors collaborating with CCTV “unity” are doing the same; primarily deceiving mainland Chinese.
This also once again highlights that the CCP’s biggest fear is not the US or Taiwan, but rather the 1.4 billion Chinese people. They fear that once the Chinese people awaken and completely abandon the CCP, they’ll be held accountable, these criminals that are full of wrongdoing won’t be able to survive. We know that former US Secretary of State Pompeo has repeatedly said, “The Chinese Communist Party is most afraid of the Chinese people hearing the truth.”
It’s true, the CCP commits numerous atrocities and is extremely selfish. While it claims to serve the people, it primarily cares about its own political security, i.e., its rule. For this purpose, it lies and deceives, sacrificing two hundred thousand lives for twenty years of stability, refusing to let people live with dignity and freedom of belief, as only unthinking Chinese without mutual vigilance and living harshly, will not think about democracy or threaten CCP rule.
Therefore, the CCP is the most evil regime in the world. However, it’s becoming increasingly weaker and unable to deceive people, even the internal CCP members are hoping for the Communist Party to collapse, waiting to see the leader’s joke.
Q4 Qin Yue, in stark contrast to the CCP’s malevolent appearance, Republic of China (Taiwan) President Lai Ching-te adopts a compassionate approach. He stated, “Every time a cultural worker in Taiwan carries the burden under someone else’s eaves, I feel sorry for them,” and called on the Taiwanese people to understand these artists. Personally, when I read these words, I’m quite moved. Mainland netizens also seem to be moved, with some jokingly saying, hey? If this were on the mainland, these people would have been denounced as so-called “scandalous artists” and permanently blacklisted.
A: In the Tao Te Ching, there’s a saying: “The weakest in the world is water; the strongest in the world cannot conquer it.” There is nothing weaker than water in the world, yet nothing can overcome its strength.
Lai Ching-te’s stance showcases an image of a mature, rational, and steady democratically-elected leader to the world. Lai Ching-te has said that a country’s greatness doesn’t depend on land area, population, or military capabilities but on the level of civilization it has reached. Indicators of civilization include democracy, freedom, human rights, allowing every individual to live according to their ideals on this land, allowing disadvantaged people to live happily – this is true greatness for a country.
Taiwan hasn’t gone through a series of movements like the CCP’s Cultural Revolution, destroying China’s five-thousand-year-old traditional culture. The genes of the Taiwanese people haven’t experienced family betrayals or the fear of needing to inform on each other for self-protection. Taiwan’s kindness and the level of civilization in this country are starkly different from territories under CCP rule. The CCP forces artists to make statements, it’s exclusionary, while Taiwan’s approach is one of tolerance and understanding. In my view, Lai Ching-te is governing with morality, whereas the CCP only uses methods and tricks. Moreover, Lai Ching-te has indeed gained popularity this time.
McCaul in Taiwan, had a quote that resonated well, he said: “People can gather and protest to prove that Taiwan is a beacon of democracy. Xi, let me tell you, this isn’t a sign of weakness but a display of strength.” Perhaps the CCP doesn’t understand, but those who love freedom and are determined to defend it, will understand.
