Taiwanese artist Ivy Ling tied the knot with mainland Chinese actor Qin Hao in 2015 and together they have a daughter affectionately nicknamed “Little Rice Grain.” The family of three is filled with happiness and often showcases their love on social media. Recently, they embarked on a trip together, flying with Finnair, only to discover upon reaching their destination that their luggage had gone missing. Ivy Ling took to Weibo to share about the incident, specifically mentioning that among the lost items was a pillow her mother-in-law had used for 15 years, joking that “her mother-in-law’s hairstyle is all thanks to it,” sparking discussions among netizens.
On January 7th, Ivy Ling revealed on Weibo that her family was traveling to Northern Europe, arriving in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland in northern Finland, on January 5th via a Finnair flight, only to find their luggage missing. Frustrated, she went to the counter to inquire but found only one staff member handling luggage claims, who seemed clueless about their situation. Ivy Ling was upset that despite having paid for luggage handling, they were unable to take responsibility for the missing items, and coincidentally, all the passengers who lost their luggage happened to be Chinese speakers.
Ivy Ling mentioned that it wasn’t until they were about to fly back to Shanghai that they were informed their luggage had been delivered to the airport. Sadly, upon reaching the airport, they realized that her mother-in-law’s luggage had still not been retrieved correctly. Efforts are being made to locate the missing luggage in Rovaniemi as it contains a special pillow her mother-in-law had used for 15 years, which Ivy Ling humorously claimed was essential for her mother-in-law’s hairstyle.
Upon seeing Ivy Ling’s post, mainland Chinese netizens left comments such as “I was reading her post seriously, silently sympathizing with my fellow countryman, but when I read about how ‘her mother-in-law’s hairstyle is all thanks to that pillow,’ I suddenly burst out laughing,” “What kind of special pillow is it really?”, “Can a pillow be used for 15 years?” and “Her mother-in-law’s hairstyle actually depends on a pillow.” With Ivy Ling’s tendency to interact with her fans by sharing stories, her next post addressing the pillow incident is expected to be a lengthy one.
After ending her nine-year marriage with Taiwanese artist Harlem Yu in 2009, Ivy Ling and Harlem found their respective happiness separately. In 2016, she welcomed her daughter “Little Rice Grain” with Qin Hao, while Harlem later had a daughter with Taiwanese television presenter Zhang Jiaxin.
Since remarrying Qin Hao, Ivy Ling has been praised for her emotional intelligence and good relationship with her mother-in-law. She once shared on Weibo about the “Three Mothers.” When referring to Qin Hao’s mother, she exclaimed, “My mother-in-law is truly exceptional!” Describing her as “bright, cheerful, and a colorful woman,” Ivy Ling expressed, “She makes me believe that there is no ugliness in this world, everything can be resolved, everything is worthwhile.”
