Philadelphia Transportation Center Brawl Leads to Shooting, Two Men Injured

Two men were shot during a fight at the Frankford Transportation Center in the Frankford area of Northeast Philadelphia on Monday morning, December 22nd. The two men were then taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to a report by CBS Philadelphia on Monday, the incident occurred before 9 a.m. in the 5200 block of Frankford Avenue. The altercation between the two men escalated into a shooting inside the lobby. One of the men was shot in the shoulder during the scuffle, and they continued to struggle over the gun, resulting in the gun accidentally firing a second time, hitting the original shooter in the hand.

Authorities from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) Police responded swiftly to reports of the fight in the lobby. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the two injured individuals.

One man was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital by SEPTA Police, while the other was taken to Temple University Hospital by the Philadelphia Police Department.

Both men have been detained after their conditions stabilized. No other individuals have been arrested, and the weapon has not been recovered yet. The authorities are investigating the cause of the fight and the source of the firearm.

This incident has garnered attention locally because the Frankford Transportation Center is a crucial transportation hub in Northeast Philadelphia, connecting several bus and subway lines.

A spokesperson for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority mentioned that the scene has been cleared, and the operations at the transportation center have returned to normal. Despite the shooting, the incident did not disrupt the traffic services in the area during the morning rush hour.
