China Airlines announced that starting from August 5, 2026, it will be expanding its non-stop flights between New York and Taipei, reflecting the increasing demand for trans-Pacific routes and the trend of airlines expanding their presence in the North American market.
According to the plans of China Airlines, the route between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) will see an additional flight added each week starting from August 5, 2026, bringing the total number of flights per week from the current four to five.
The flight information released by China Airlines shows that the new flight starting from the mentioned date will depart from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Taipei as flight number CI011 every Thursday, and the return flight CI012 will depart from Taipei to New York every Wednesday.
China Airlines stated that as new aircraft deliveries progress, they are evaluating the possibility of further increasing the frequency of this route to once daily by the end of 2026. If the plan is realized, New York will become one of the few East Coast cities for China Airlines to offer daily non-stop services.
New York has long been considered a key hub for Asian airlines on the East Coast of the United States, catering to business, tourism, and diaspora markets. Analysts point out that increasing flight density can help airlines attract high-frequency business travelers and enhance their competitiveness in connecting flights and airline networks.
Furthermore, China Airlines mentioned that in the future, they will be shifting from the current Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport to the newly constructed Terminal One. This new terminal is expected to introduce more digital and automated facilities, becoming a major operational base for several international airlines in New York.
In terms of their North American presence, China Airlines currently operates routes to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Ontario, Phoenix, and Vancouver in Canada. The airline opened a direct flight route between Taipei and Phoenix in December of this year and expanded its inland transfer network in the United States through a collaboration with Southwest Airlines.
China Airlines stated that they will continue to adjust the frequencies and layout of flights on North American and other long-haul routes based on market demand and fleet capacity.
