The 40th Gold Mountain Bay Area Chinese Sports Dance Competition took place on July 13th (last Saturday) at the Nanwan Qiao Jiaozhong Center, attracting nearly 300 participants. Thirteen teams took turns showcasing their dancing skills on stage, eliciting cheers and screams from the audience.
The competition kicked off with the appearance of the Chinese Longevity Association team, which included several participants over the age of eighty. They gracefully moved their steps, hands, and feet, exuding a sense of elegance and confidence despite their age.
Linda Lin, the founding president of the American California Line Dance Association, served as the host of the competition that day. She told the media that in 2007, when she was the chairperson of the Chinese Sports Games, she started organizing line dance competitions.
The benefits of this competition not only lie in socializing through dance but also in building profound friendships during the dance practice, resulting in endless beautiful memories. Line dancing makes people healthier, happier, and also boosts the economy as everyone buys the most beautiful clothes and shoes, enjoying the happiest moments. She hopes that everyone will actively participate in line dancing.
Chuang Yashu, the director of the Jiaozhong Center, expressed deep emotion upon seeing so many teams actively participating in the line dance competition. She stated that line dancing competitions can not only motivate everyone but also promote coordination and health among participants, making it a fantastic competition event.
Chen Zhaoquan, the newly appointed chairperson of the 40th Chinese Sports Games, mentioned that the line dance competition of the Chinese Sports Games had been suspended for 5 years. He thanked Linda Lin, the president of the Line Dance Association, for her assistance in successfully rallying everyone to hold the competition once again. Line dancing not only consolidates overseas Chinese solidarity but also dances out a healthy and vibrant life, encouraging everyone to actively join in.
The judges for the line dance competition that day were Shen Ning, Yirong, and the wife of Santa Clara County Councilman Otto Lee, Wu Yi.
After nearly two hours of intense competition, the results were as follows: Barbie Waltz claimed 1st place, Xiaozhuangyuan secured 2nd place and the Best Popularity Award, with Dream Ladies coming in third. The Best Spirit Award went to the Chinese Longevity Association team, the Best Creativity Award was awarded to Little Sapling, the Best Coordination Award belonged to Cool Sisters, the Best Uniformity Award was for Rainbow Sweetheart, the Best Costume Styling Award went to Summer Breeze, and the Largest Team Award was won by Kuallala.
The 1st place winner of the competition will receive a $300 cash prize, the 2nd place will receive $200, and the 3rd place will get $100. The top 3 winning groups will also participate in a stage performance on the day of the Chinese Sports Games.
