The Chinese Communist authorities’ brutal suppression of petitioners continues to be exposed. Following the revelation of over 400 petitioners being detained at the Shengkang Mental Hospital in Fuzhou, it has been reported that a male petitioner who refused to give up petitioning was taken to a mountain by government and police officers to be “buried alive”. Although he was ultimately rescued, his legs were left permanently disabled as a result.
Fuzhou petitioner Chen Xiufang told Epoch Times that the male petitioner, in his forties, had a stable job but refused to abandon his grievances against the government. He was first persecuted at the Shengkang Mental Hospital in Fuzhou and later “buried alive” on a mountain.
“He was very pitiful. He originally had a job and went to sue the government over a house demolition issue. They sent him to the mental hospital. After being released for a long time, he went to sue again. Government officials and police officers then took him to the mountain to ‘bury’ him.”
Chen Xiufang said that the man was rescued after being buried for about three hours, but his lower body was severely damaged.
“After being buried for about three hours, they went to rescue him. After digging him out and sending him to the hospital for treatment, his legs became disabled, probably because he was buried for too long. He now walks with crutches.”
Chen Xiufang also recounted another incident where a male petitioner who went to a government department for petitioning was not allowed to leave by security guards. As a result, a three-wheeler was called in, directly knocking down and running over the male petitioner. After being taken to the hospital, it was found that several of his ribs were broken, and he eventually died.
“The government is very dark! It’s not just a little black, but completely rotten. Being sent to a mental hospital like me is considered light.”
At almost 80 years old, Chen Xiufang herself is a petitioner who was forcibly sent to the Shengkang Mental Hospital in Fuzhou by the local government for not giving up petitioning for her grievances. She had heard from doctors that the hospital had detained over 400 petitioners, with some normal people being persecuted into becoming psychiatric patients.
“In my ward, there were about 20 people. One male petitioner was detained for six years. We could hear him yelling loudly at night, and he was in the male ward across from our female ward, which was very scary.”
According to Chen Xiufang, the authorities turn a blind eye to the widespread injustices in Fujian. After the Central Inspection Team entered in 2024, over 60,000 people went to report their grievances that year, but it all fell on deaf ears. Now it is estimated that the number of petitioners is even more than 60,000.
“No one is managing this government now, it’s terrifying. They don’t solve any of the problems in Fujian, just cover it up tightly. Those who go to Beijing are either thrown into mental hospitals, sent to prison, or put under house arrest.”
