Chinese Actor Missing in Thailand
Chinese actor, Wang Xing, known for his roles in dramas such as “The Story of the Rose,” arrived in Bangkok, Thailand on January 3 to start filming but went missing around noon at the Thai-Myanmar border the same day. Concern grew when his girlfriend couldn’t reach him for three days and reported him missing, desperately seeking help on Weibo in hopes of his safe return.
The news of Wang Xing’s disappearance at the Thai-Myanmar border quickly became a hot topic on Weibo, with many netizens expressing their concern and interest in the case.
A Weibo account under the name “Sleepless Dad” posted a message late on the 5th, revealing that her boyfriend, Wang Xing, an actor, went missing near the Thai-Myanmar border after receiving a trial notice in a actors’ group chat. It had been over 60 hours since his last message, sparking worry and confusion among his friends and fans.
According to the account owner, Wang Xing received a trial notice in an actors’ group chat before his disappearance and was then added by a casting organizer on WeChat. After a successful trial, he was asked to travel to Thailand for filming. The Weibo post detailed how he was escorted by someone upon arrival in Bangkok for a supposed launch ceremony but gradually veered off course and disappeared at the Thai-Myanmar border with no contact since then.
Actor Deng You reposted the news about Wang Xing’s disappearance and shared his own near-miss experience with a person named Yen Shiliu, revealing chat records with him. Deng disclosed that he narrowly avoided a similar scam, where Yen Shiliu requested him to renew his passport and promised future opportunities. Another mainland Chinese actor, Xu Dajiu, shared his similar encounter in the comments, having just escaped from human traffickers, suspecting it’s related to the same production team.
Following this, Xu Dajiu posted a video warning others not to trust fake filming opportunities in Thailand and cautioned against accepting trips to Myanmar under false pretenses. He emphasized the deceit behind the most expensive and seemingly refundable ticket schemes that could lead to dangerous situations and advised against participating in such arrangements.
Xu Dajiu confirmed his safe return to China and established contact with Wang Xing’s family, stating that Wang Xing had reached a park, shaved his head, and appeared in a video but couldn’t show his face. He assured that Wang Xing was the third batch arriving in Miao Wadi following his own experience as part of the second batch.
Reportedly, Wang Xing’s last known location before going missing in Miesuo, a small town at the Thai-Myanmar border facing Miao Wadi in Myanmar. Public records indicate that Miao Wadi, located in the eastern part of Myanmar, is a notorious hub for online scams and fraudulent activities.
Wang Xing, known for his roles in various dramas such as “Fox Spirit Matchmaker,” “The Story of the Rose,” “Mystery of the Sins 2,” “Psychologist,” among others, finds himself in a crisis while seeking acting opportunities. Many of his co-stars, including Shu Qi, Gong Jun, Ma Tianyu, and Yao Chen, have joined efforts to share missing person posts in hopes of his safe return.
