The 35th Golden Melody Awards will take place at Taipei Arena on June 29th, and the lineup of performers was announced today. The “Soul Songstress” Jia Jia, along with the frequent winners in the category of Hokkien music awards, Gina and Zhang Xiuqing, as well as the long-absent singer Shunzi, will all be gracing the Golden Melody stage.
Shunzi, who won the Best Mandarin Female Singer award at the 10th Golden Melody Awards, still has many popular hits that are frequently sung at KTVs. After many years of absence, she is returning to the Golden Melody stage, expressing her excitement by saying, “Long time no see, I am going back to Taiwan to sing, very, very happy, very excited.”
Although she has been out of the public eye for a while, Shunzi is looking forward to meeting many old friends. Seeing so many talented nominees, she genuinely feels proud for everyone. Despite having less exposure on the screen, her love for music remains strong. She hopes that her singing can bring happiness, health, and hope, vowing to continue writing songs and eagerly anticipating the release of a new album.
Shunzi also revealed, “After so many years without releasing a new album, I am looking forward to collaborating once again with Taiwan’s most outstanding musicians. Without these talented musicians, there would be no me today. The beautiful memories in the recording studio from the past are unforgettable.”
She also didn’t forget to encourage aspiring musicians who love music, saying, “You must not give up, keep working hard in music. If you need me, I will do my best to help. Keep going!”
She hopes that through her performance at the Golden Melody stage, she can once again move people with music, saying, “I will sing well, see you at the Golden Melody Awards.”
Furthermore, Jia Jia, whose captivating voice always enchants listeners, teased that this time she will bring a warm and touching performance, aiming to promote excellent indigenous songs and ballads. It was revealed that the music director Chen Junhao and Brandy will be participating together, along with a choir performance.
Gina (Yang Shuyu), the winner of the Best Hakka Singer award at the 30th Golden Melody Awards, will this time deliver a unique stage performance alongside the Hokkien music queen Zhang Xiuqing. It will also be her first time standing on the Taipei Arena stage to sing her native language compositions.
