On August 16th and 17th, Dao Lang held a two-day concert at the Taiyuan Sports Stadium. Outside the venue, fans got into a conflict when a woman raised a hand-drawn portrait of Dao Lang, which other fans found offensive and disrespectful. The woman was later escorted away by the police.
The concert at the Shanxi Sports Center attracted fans nationwide, with the local cultural tourism department setting up four main stages outside the venue. From 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., each stage offered a variety of activities including fan interactions, guest performances, fan sing-alongs, dialect games, intangible cultural heritage displays, and amateur performances, providing audience members and visitors with a platform to enjoy and release their emotions.
The show began at 7 p.m., with a fireworks and drone display by the local tourism department in tribute to Dao Lang, ending the evening’s event. Many attendees expressed that the atmosphere was more festive than a music festival, describing it as a wild celebration.
On the first night of the concert, before it commenced, a middle-aged woman was seen outside holding a crudely drawn portrait of Dao Lang. Fans noticed the unflattering image and confronted her, accusing her of insulting Dao Lang. The crowd became agitated, raising their arms and chanting slogans like “Down with the impostor.”
According to eyewitnesses, the woman and a male companion were swiftly taken away by the police in a patrol car.
Some netizens in the comment section mentioned that her removal by the authorities was for her own protection, preventing her from being verbally attacked by the fans on-site.
It was reported that such a disruptive incident, like the one at Dao Lang’s concert, was unprecedented despite his numerous previous performances. Some netizens found the situation unbelievable.
Others suggested that the woman be detained for ten days for infringement and vilification of image rights.
However, some netizens mentioned that the woman later claimed innocence on her personal social media, stating that she was also a fan of Dao Lang.
An eyewitness told the reporter that the woman had only recently posted some images of Dao Lang to pretend to be his fan, and when she was discovered at the venue, she attempted to destroy the evidence.
Many comments in the online community highlighted that Dao Lang’s concerts inject vitality into the local economy and bring in revenue, leading local authorities to support his concerts. For instance, after the concert in Taiyuan, when Dao Lang left by car, the security personnel knelt down collectively to give waiting fans a clear view, earning praise for their human touch.
