Photo Gallery: Grand Return of the 2024 New York Korean Parade Celebration

This year marks the 121st anniversary of Korean immigrants in the United States. The Korean Parade & Festival, which was put on hold for five years due to the pandemic, kicked off on the morning of October 5th in grand style in Manhattan, New York. The event was organized by the Korean American Association of Greater New York (KAAGNY), with over 50 Korean community groups participating in the parade. A market was also held near Korea Town on 32nd Street in Manhattan, showcasing the vibrant Korean cultural heritage.

The Korean Parade and Festival, which started in 1980, is the largest event in the New York Korean community and has become one of the top five parades in the city. The parade route started at 38th Street on Sixth Avenue, parading down to 27th Street, cutting through the heart of Manhattan. The event featured floats, marching bands, cavalry, various Korean community groups, and business contingents, marching proudly through the bustling streets of Manhattan known as the “heart of the world.”

The festival activities near 32nd Street in Manhattan included a variety of events, such as official ceremonies featuring prominent figures from Korea, performances showcasing Korean traditional culture, a bibimbap performance involving 500 people, K-POP shows, and singing competitions. Additionally, the event venue offered diverse food, entertainment, and experiences, including promotional and sales booths from various companies and institutions, providing visitors with a rich cultural experience.

The celebration of the 121st anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States in New York City demonstrated the vibrant and thriving Korean community’s pride in their heritage. The event served as a platform for cultural exchange, celebration, and unity, bringing together people of all backgrounds to celebrate Korean culture and history.
