On November 29, 2025, the Hong Kong Police reported that as of 3 p.m. on that day, the fire at Hong Fu Estate had resulted in 128 deaths and 83 injuries. The follow-up work of the Hong Fu Estate 5-alarm fire in Tai Po, Hong Kong, continues. As of today (29th) at 3 p.m., the fire has claimed 128 lives and left 83 injured.

The Hong Kong government held a cross-departmental press conference this afternoon to announce that due to sufficient donations from the public, they are appealing to halt further donations to prevent wastage. A central supply station has been set up at the Tai Po Community Center for coordinated management. The police have completed the search operations for the less severely affected Hong Yan House and Hong Dao House, where no human remains have been found. Approximately 150 residents are still uncontactable.

Commander Lin Minxian of the Northern New Territories District pointed out that the 600 members of the disaster victim identification team have completed the search of the lightly affected Hong Yan House and Hong Dao House today. No human remains were found during the search. Three cats and a turtle were rescued from the units in Hong Yan House and Hong Dao House and have been handed over to the Society for the Protection of Animals for care. Due to the complex environment at the fire scene, with abundant water and debris, the search operation is extremely challenging. The police anticipate that the overall search and investigation will take 3 to 4 weeks but will make every effort to shorten the timeframe.

The police’s casualty inquiry unit has received numerous requests for missing persons. After investigation, 84 deceased and 37 injured individuals have been identified as missing persons. 144 residents who were reported missing have been found safe. Approximately 150 residents are still uncontactable, with limited information available for 100 cases. The police are working diligently to follow up on these cases. Authorities urge residents to call the hotline to provide information on missing or inquire about missing family and friends.
