The Taiwan Association in San Francisco will host its annual Halloween costume ball on October 25th. This event combines a dance party, live music performances, and a creative costume contest, making it one of the few Halloween celebrations in the Bay Area that is open to the public and welcomes participants from all walks of life.
This year’s ball will feature a special live performance by the I 99 Band.
Established in 2012, the band, led by Eric Lin, has a history of over a decade and consists of five professional musicians and several talented singers. With their energetic performances, they promise to bring a lively and festive Halloween night to the audience.
In addition to the captivating music performances, the event will also include a creative costume contest. The judging panel, consisting of Taiwan Association President Chen Zongyi, Zheng Guangzhi, Lu Yuzhen, Lin Meilian, and Chen Jianfen, will evaluate costumes based on design, creativity, stage presence, and talent display, with a total score of 100 points. The contest is divided into group and individual categories, with cash prizes of $200 for the first place, $100 for the second place, and $50 for the third place. The organizers encourage participants to be innovative, showcase their uniqueness, and add more surprises and festive joy to the ball.
Chen Zongyi expressed hope that through this event, overseas compatriots and community members can share joyful moments together, making Halloween in the Bay Area more lively, and continuing the spirit of “Love Taiwan, Serve Compatriots.” Zheng Guangzhi, a member of the judging panel, encouraged participants to unleash their creativity, brainstorm different character ideas, and create a more vibrant and fun atmosphere for the Halloween costume ball.
Former President Chen Jianfen mentioned that although the Taiwan Association in San Francisco has been established for over forty years, the Halloween costume ball is a traditional event that she initiated during her tenure and has been held continuously for the past ten years.
The evening will include a delightful dinner, beverages, and various entertainment programs. Tickets are priced at $40 for sponsor tickets and $100 for VIP tickets, both including meals and registration fees. Due to limited seating at the venue, the organizers remind the public to enter with a ticket and urge interested individuals to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment.
