34-year-old Colombian pop music king Yeison Jiménez tragically passed away in a plane crash on January 10th. His management company confirmed the sad news on the 11th, and fans flooded his social media platforms to mourn his untimely death.
According to reports from Fox News and other major U.S. media outlets, the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority stated that Yeison Jiménez was aboard a private plane with registration number N325FA, intending to fly to Medellín, Colombia, but crashed in the area of Paipa and Duitama in Boyacá province. Footage released by local media showed someone shouting “not enough runway” upon takeoff, after which the plane crashed and caught fire.
The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that all six people on board, including 34-year-old singer Jiménez, his manager Jefferson Osorio, the pilot, and three other passengers, lost their lives. Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident.
At just 34 years old, Jiménez was a creative talent in Colombia, blending Mexican country music with Colombian traditional melodies in his music. His unique style was beloved by young people, making him one of the most representative figures in the Colombian pop folk music scene. In 2024, he held three sold-out concerts at the Movistar Arena in Bogotá, attracting over 40,000 fans each night, setting a new record for Colombian folk singers.
Jiménez leaves behind a wife and three young children. Following the tragic news, many musicians, fans, and industry professionals took to social media to express their condolences, lamenting, “Such heartbreaking news, life is fragile.”
