The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Thursday (August 13) a nationwide recall of approximately 1,250 wall beds.
Wall beds, also known as hidden beds or Murphy beds, are furniture that can be folded vertically or horizontally into the wall or a dedicated cabinet, saving space effectively. During the day, it can be stored away to free up floor space, and at night, it can be pulled down for use as a regular comfortable bed.
The recalled products are the white pull-down full-size and single-size Merax Murphy beds, with model numbers including GX000392AAK, GX000391AAK, and GX000383AAK. These wall beds were sold on websites such as Amazon, Home Depot, Wayfair, Walmart, Target, Overstock, and Temu between May 2024 and February 2026, with retail prices ranging from $900 to $1,100.
CPSC pointed out that during assembly or disassembly, if the wall bed frame is not properly secured to the wall, it may collapse and fall onto individuals, causing “fatal impact, crushing, tearing, and other injuries.”
There have been reports from two consumers who suffered injuries because the bed was not secured to the wall, causing it to fall during assembly. One consumer suffered bruises on the head, neck, and right shoulder, while the other consumer had head impact and bruises on the arm.
The same products may also be sold under other brand names such as Euroco, Harper & Bright Designs, Modern Luxe, Polibi, or without a specific brand name. Owners can identify if their product is affected by checking the yellow SKU label inside the bed frame.
CPSC advises consumers to stop using the recalled products immediately and contact the importer GigaCloud Technology to apply for a free repair kit. Consumers who have not assembled the bed will receive a repair kit containing unloaded piston springs and an updated assembly and inspection manual, while assembled consumers will receive an inspection guide. If incorrect assembly is found, the company will dispatch professional installers free of charge to correct or complete the installation.
Consumers can call the toll-free number 888-600-6376 or email support@merax.com to contact GigaCloud Technology (recall webpage).
